KoopaTV's June 2021 Review Newsletter

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - E3 2021 is behind us. There's more to come!

We got a lot to cover in this month's review newsletter, because KoopaTV had a lot of hip and happening things in the month of June 2021.

So much has happened in that month that we gotta dedicate this newsletter to review it. But there's some new things, too! So let's get started. Immediately.

KoopaTV's Email Subscription Moving Providers

As I wrote in the April 2021 newsletter, Google is a jerk and discontinued FeedBurner's email subscription functionality, where you'd put your email address and get KoopaTV articles sent to your inbox. That functionality ended July 1... which is today, so it's gone now and is no longer sending out communications.

I've investigated another service, follow.it. I've imported the active list of KoopaTV's FeedBurner subscriptions into follow.it.

You can join the list by filling out this form or clicking this link, which I should go and integrate around the site:

Never miss a new KoopaTV article!

You need to pay the service in order for what I consider basic features (like the email subject line having the article's headline on it instead of just being “KoopaTV - new message” on every email), but... I mean, I'd rather not spend money. Then again, I am spending a fair bit of money on the site already, and it's a couple of United States Dollars a month, so... We'll see. I'd like to hear your thoughts in the comments. I know for the folks who gave me feedback on the KoopaTV Feedback Form Part XXX that they'd recommend not paying anything, but there's actually... quite a bit more names on that list I imported than I expected to the point that I can be argued into believing it's worth it for a more pleasant experience.

July 4 update: I'm still receiving the FeedBurner emails, so I don't know WHEN in July 2021 it's going to end. Hm. But they did say the emails would cease this month.

Top Five Recommended Experiences of June 2021

KoopaTV had INSANELY good content in June 2021. The month was stacked, especially with E3 2021 bringing about more (and dare I say...better?!) content than usual. So the top five is really, really good. Peak KoopaTV:
  1. Rillaboom for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Moveset Concept — While it was Kazuya that was shown off at E3 2021 as the new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character, there's still a chance for Rillaboom, with this very unique moveset concept!
  2. E3 2021: Company Presentations Tier List — Here is KoopaTV's write-up of the companies that presented at E3 2021. It's pretty juicy.
  3. Two-Player LEGO Mario and LEGO Luigi with a WEIRD Trailer — There's nothing good about the Mario Brothers, especially not in LEGO form, making them mass-distributed to kids around Earth and teaching them horrible things. KoopaTV analyses a trailer that puts that on display.
  4. Comprehensive List of Media Outlets that Spread Nintendo Switch "Pro" at E3 2021 FAKE NEWS — Many, many media outlets out there spread the demonstrably false claim that Nintendo would announce a Nintendo Switch hardware revision at or before E3 2021. KoopaTV is documenting those outlets in this article in order to bring the industry some much-needed accountability.
  5. Two Competing Vaccine Perspectives—Coming to Nintendo Switch End of 2021 — Everyone has their own opinion on vaccinations, and KoopaTV showcases two of those perspectives in this article, due to them being represented in two Nintendo Switch games releasing later in 2021.

There are several other great articles published throughout June 2021 that you should read—and you-should-check-out-everything applies to everything else on KoopaTV.

Best Three Comments and One Worst Comment of June 2021

We also got lots of comments from you folks! So here's that part of the newsletter where I feature the best (in chronological order)... and the one absolute worst.
  1. “"Will Yellow Comet have diversity too?"

Yes they will. Watch the trailer and the part with Sami vs Kanbei.” — ShinyGirafarig
  2. “I think they misunderstood the part about the MH Stories 2 protagonist being the grandchild of the first game's protagonist. The ages don't seem to line up right for that to be possible, based on the other returning characters shown.

As far as I know, the SMT V segment ran into trouble because they started a fight they really weren't ready for at that point in the game. All the SMT fans I saw commenting on it were saying that the Treehouse players didn't know what they were getting into.

...And I really hope that Metroid: Dread Special Edition becomes available again somewhere. I've been trying to get it ever since it first went live.” — Samantha Lienhard
  3. “Interesting, although I’m pretty sure the side affect of Samus being susceptible to the cold is something to be wary of. If you stay too long in a cold area, you could die in less than a minute, at least that’s what happened in the game. Even vaccines that do their job can have dangerous side affects.

Glad your feeling better, but you’d best not skip out on ringgit adventure next week. You don’t want to get into another long hiatus of laziness when we’re so close to the Olympics. I’m not too excited though, I’ve a feeling there’s gonna be some useless drama stirred up that’ll ruin the whole thing. ” — Captain Stitch
Good attentiveness from both ShinyGirafarig and Samantha Lienhard for the Nintendo Treehouse: Live at E3 2021. Though I admit I haven't had the chance yet to actually start the Monster Hunter Stories 2 demo despite it being available. (I want to, though!)

And Captain Stitch had a valid point about being careful on vaccines, and encouraging me not to be lazy when it comes to training for the Olympics (hey, not that I was PLANNING to. I think). And that's happening in a matter of weeks.

As for the worst comment...
  1. “kill koopa troopas they stop us from savoury principessa and kil pirahna plant and kil ludwig von kopa and kil all kopa siblings and kil B O W S E R” — Anonymous
...Huh? What? Nevermind the random declarations of death, what the heck does the rest of that mean? Who is us? ...Savoury principessa? Where's the thought process here?

KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program Round 38 RESULTS!

So... here's the results of the 38th round of KoopaTV's gamified contest (with real prizes!), the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program!
  1. Captain Stitch — 104 points — $10 Amazon gift card code
  2. ShinyGirafarig — 48 points — $10 Nintendo eShop card code
  3. Lheticus Videre — 31 points
  4. spoon 3 hype — 27 points
  5. Samantha Lienhard — 17 points
Kamek is supposed to be supplying the card codes to the winners. I'm... not sure if he's actually gone out and bought them yet! So, uh, be patient while we work that out.

Announcing KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program Round 39!

And where Round 38 ended, Round 39 of the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program has begun. There will only be one prize for this one—a $10 Nintendo eShop card code. This round lasts from today to the end of August 2021.

If you didn't read that accountability list of media outlets closely, you'll see at the bottom of that article is a new method for getting points. Basically, comment a qualifying media outlet that we missed from the list and you'll get an extra point. The limit on this is your ability to find additional outlets.

KoopaTV Feedback Form Part XXXI and KoopaTV Quiz Part XXXI Now Available!

We have a new Feedback Form and a new Quiz available for KoopaTV participants! Check out Part XXXI here, as well as the full archive of these if you wish. I... made the Quiz questions easier (in my opinion) than Part XXX's because Part XXX's was too obscure, even for me. ...Even if I intend for you to look up the answers on KoopaTV while taking the quiz. The Feedback Form is short and very sweet, too.

Corrections Corner; June 2021

KoopaTV didn't recognise any valid corrections identified in the comments section in the last month. Yippee.

Share KoopaTV around to your friendly friends (and worst enemies)! Perhaps this newsletter can help get newbies situated. ...That is part of the intention, you know. Consider subscribing your email to that form and give your feedback on it. ...As well as suggestions for other providers if you have any.

You should also read next month's July 2021 newsletter to learn more about things like the email subscription.
Last year's June 2020 didn't have an E3, so it was a different kind of experience.
Next year's June 2022 ALSO didn't have an E3...

  1. This past month I finally replaced my dying laptop with a desktop I got on sale for Prime Day. It's good to be able to comment again. I've tried using the mobile site, but it just isn't the same.

P.S. These figures were just announced and I wanted to see if you're interested in them. https://twitter.com/GoodSmile_US/status/1411463530058895361

    1. lol the mobile site
(...If I was a good webmaster I'd try to make it better. But I'm not!)

I totally missed that Prime Day even happened. Usually there's a filler article about that! But this year it was immediately after E3, which seems like poor timing.

As for those figures, I have no objections.
