WHO is Developing Yoshi's Island 3DS?

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - This article is why KoopaTV will never be taken seriously by anyone.

So in a previous article I was really ecstatic that Yoshi's Island 3DS wasn't being developed by the losers at Artoon, because they don't know how to develop a good game. That begs the question: Who IS developing it?

To solve this problem, KoopaTV has claimed an exclusive interview with Nintendo Customer Support Representative, Mari Helm.

Ace Attorney Hostage Crisis

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - HOLD IT!

As RawkHawk2010 laments, I'm very predisposed to defending Capcom at every turn for the various decisions that they make. As I wrote earlier, I refuse to boycott Capcom because I'm a loyal Ace Attorney fan. Rawk is indignant on Capcom's practice to hold games hostage to get consumers to buy other games, but I think this practice makes perfectly logical business sense.

Stars and Firebars

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - This is contrary to yesterday's sub-title.

I quickly realized defending the Confederate States of America was akin to defending Koopa Kingdom: Both are dismissed as evil — without debate — by their foes, who enjoy mainstream popular support. So why not actually do some sprite work?

Confederate States of America flag in Super Mario Bros.
Beautiful, huh?

The Right to Freedom

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - I'm not really talkin' 'bout Starmen and Fire Bars.

Congressman Ed Markey (D-MA-05) is running for the special Senate election in his state of Massachusetts, thanks to now-former Senator (and failed presidential candidate) John Kerry becoming the Secretary of State. This guy is a damn dinosaur and has been in Congress since the 1970s.

So he tried to hold a fundraiser with Georgia's Ben Jones (a fellow Democrat and famous person), which got canceled by Markey because the Congressman is offended by the Confederate Flag, and Mr. Jones is an avid defender of that symbol.

So why am I writing about this? Because I'm offended by Ed Markey being offended! Mr. Markey stated,
Confederate relics are highly offensive and should not be displayed in public settings, period.

When Kickstarters Get Kicked in the Ass (Part 1)

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Ron Paul: The Road to REVOLution

Not that I have a Part 2 or anything planned, but you know, I don't see why not.

Apparently, over one year ago during the Republican presidential primaries, a man named Daniel Williams came up with the idea to influence people's votes by creating a Ron Paul-based videogame, deemed Ron Paul: The Road to REVOLution. This would be a platformer, and it'd be funded by Kickstarter. Here's an interview with Mr. Williams:

A Call for Memorial

By RAWKHAWK2010 - Or why Sticker Star makes me sicker and scarred.

Today we honor the lives of many of our closest friends and allies. They hosted trivia, did archaeology, trained dudes in the martial arts, feared Bowser's accounting, and without them the Shadow Queen would have plunged Star World into darkness even darker than Sticker Star's.

And Miyamoto fucking killed them.

What is the Enlightenment Movement?

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - The truth.

I mentioned in the opening introduction article for KoopaTV that "I lead the Enlightenment Movement, an educational revolution." I didn't actually say what that means. On Miiverse I mention that the Enlightenment Movement is "a public education campaign directed against certain plumbers." That's certainly more informative, but not complete.

Why do people think Capcom should be allowed anywhere near Smash Bros.?

By RAWKHAWK2010 - Capcom Sucks.

I know people love Mega Man and wanna play as him in Super Smash Bros. 4, but I feel like people are far too quick to divorce the character from the terrible, terrible company that unfortunately still owns him.

Coy Thoughts On Boycotts

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - My walk and talk are INTEGRATED!

People have been yammering on about how Electronic Arts has basically dropped support for Nintendo's Wii U system, bringing about eerie memories on how EA refused to support Sega's Dreamcast. If you recall, that lack of support is credited as being one of the reasons why the Dreamcast died and Sega was dumped out of the hardware business. Could the same happen to Nintendo?

A Sonnet for Sakurai

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - I wrote this for Rawk's Creative Writing assignment.

Once upon a time, my colleague RawkHawk2010 was in a college-level Creative Writing class. He was in an extensive poetry unit, and he needed a good sonnet. So I basically wrote it for him. He proceeded to drop out of the class before he got the grade on it! Ugh!

About KoopaTV Radio (And Listener Calling)

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - If you're a listener, then yes, YOU can call in!

One exciting aspect of the KoopaTV project is the new KoopaTV Radio aspect. You're probably wondering, "how is a blog a TV?" Well, to address that, we'll have a pre-recorded daily (by the way, "daily" on this website means weekdays) show that's exclusive to KoopaTV (uploaded on my YouTube channel)! So for all of those who enjoy the sound of my voice on my YouTube channel, (then again, my voice changes frequently from video to video) y'all get to enjoy a ten minute max talk show up to five days a week! Note: These may be uploaded at any time of the day and still be considered daily. It depends on my personal schedule for when I can upload and record these things.

So what's the format of the show? I introduce the show, and read off some of the Daily News Briefings posted by Kamek, along with giving some of my commentary on it. Since it is a talk show, most of the value is of course in my commentary, which may or may not be amusing to you.

Since an oral version of a KoopaTV article doesn't sound that appealing, I'll also respond to any listener e-mails. To send one of these, e-mail me with the subject line "KoopaTV Radio" or something like that. I'll read your e-mail on the air and respond to it.

But isn't some of the fun of a radio show the listener calls? We at KoopaTV agree, which is why we're also offering an opportunity for just that. Send me a Skype contact request at PrinceOfKoopas saying you'd like to call into the show. We'll set up a time, and I'll record the call. There will of course be a time limit because any given episode isn't going to go over the ten minute mark, but what you say will be recorded and what I say will be recorded and it'll be included in the radio broadcast. So while it is still pre-recorded, it's live in the sense that your call is unscripted. Please be constructive and thoughtful in your calls or I'll cut you off, though. And don't breathe heavily into your mic or anything annoying like that.

And that's that. I'll do my best to act like a right-wing talk show host! Except the subject matter is on videogames and the industry, not politics. ...I could talk about that too if you really want. Anyway, I wish I could pull off the following type of thing, but unfortunately, I can't. Not yet.

Before he starts chainsmoking to try to emulate Alex Jones and then die from throat cancer, be sure to follow Ludwig on Miiverse! His Nintendo Network ID is PrinceOfKoopas. His YouTube channel is neglected, but to see his wide range of voice-acting, go ahead and watch through his entire Let's Play of Paper Mario Badgeless!

Knowing When We Update *Updated July 2023*

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - It's really not hard.

So you really like us here at KoopaTV. You want to follow our content and know when a new article is posted. Unfortunately, KoopaTV is no longer producing content. Here was the best way to know when we'd post a new article when we were:
  1. Put KoopaTV as your homepage.
  2. Like us on Facebook. For every article that's posted, a new Facebook post is generated on that page with a link to the article! (Not recommended as of September 2014 due to Ludwig being banned from Facebook, and the Facebook page being deleted)
  3. Friend or Follow Ludwig's personal Facebook account, but be careful if it gets banned or something.
  4. E-mail subscription. Click this link to enter your e-mail address to automatically receive the previous day's KoopaTV article to your e-mail inbox. You'll be prompted to click to read the rest of the article at the article's page break. Your e-mail address will be shared with no one and will only be used for this purpose.
  5. Subscribe to button. This should give you a feed of new content with your RSS feed, if you use that. It'll give you pre-page-break content.
  6. Follow us on Twitter. For every article that's posted, a new Twitter tweet is generated on that account with a link to the article!
  7. Follow KoopaTV's mascots on Twitter. (The mascots got abducted.)
  8. Follow us on Tumblr! Right here! (KoopaTV ended its Tumblr.)
  9. Friend or Noise us on Ello! Right here! (KoopaTV ended its Ello.)
  10. Follow us on GAB! Right here!
  11. Follow KoopaTV's turtle mascots on Instagram! (The mascots got abducted.)
  12. Follow KoopaTV on the Fediverse! (From any other account you have on the Fediverse.)
  13. Follow Ludwig on MeWe. (Shut down the MeWe account for being useless.)
There is different flavour text from one social media account to another, so go love your favourites..

KoopaTV had a dedicated social media manager. She was pretty cool. Her name was Noxial. Read more about her here.

Noxial left and joined ISIS. Woops.

Kong Wild in LA

By KAMEK - See you at the Banana Horde!

This is Kamek, all systems go.
I'll be bringing you all news that's fit to print....erm...type?
Did it happen in the last 24 hours? My Toadies and I are hovering over it.
Not to greet you all empty-handed, I have a small piece to share with you all.

Why I'm Looking Forward to YI3DS At E3

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - It's not inspired by AIDS.

From what we know from the last Nintendo Direct that showed (tentatively titled, but who knows?) Yoshi's Island 3DS, it could actually meet Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island standards of quality. For those who don't already know, Yoshi's Island is my favourite platformer of all time, and also my favourite game in the Mario franchise, above all of the RPGs in the series. So a sequel to one of my favourite games is absolutely exciting to me and it makes YI3DS my most anticipated game for the E3 season — besides Super Smash Bros. 4, of course.

Could Smash 4's Newcomers Be Terrible?

By RAWKHAWK2010 - Sorry to keep you waiting!

I'm looking forward to Smash 4 just as much as the next hawk. Well, a lot more actually. This game's unveiling has permeated my very DREAMS (one of which involved a diseased kid holding up the Nintendo E3 turnstile resulting in me having to punch him in the face).

Some Heavenly Inspiration

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Also we got some Wii branding problems.

So I was just at the Chabad for Shavuot, the holiday celebrating the day when Moses received the Ten Commandments on Mt. Sinai. They encouraged people to come by having a "dairy buffet". You know what that means? ICE CREAM! It also means a lot of little kids.

GameStop, Realm of the Cads

By YOSHIRIDER123 - And I don't like 'em.

GameStop is a well-known videogame retailer found in the Americas. Despite its massive popularity, with it essentially having created a monopoly in the video game market, there exists a lot of criticism for the store that loves to give "Power to the Players".

If You're Interested in Guest Posts

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - This is how you, the reader, can submit articles too!

We are finally a bit past the point where KoopaTV has picked up some traffic in the blogosphere. We've made a name for ourselves, with our team of authors pumping out content regularly. Update July 2023: Not anymore, since KoopaTV has stopped publishing new content.

You then might be thinking: Hey, I want my voice to be heard, too! So you use the comments section and engage in discussion about our articles with the authors and other readers. But you want something more. You want to write your own article, don't you? About a topic of your choice?! Well, sure! Why not?

All you gotta do is type an article according to KoopaTV's style guide (see below) and send it to submissions(at)koopatv.org for a KoopaTV author to post for you. They'll make sure the formatting is correct and they'll publish it in your name. You'll supply a 65x65 avatar (we can assist with this) and the name you wish to use. Your post will be published with the category “Guest Commentary”.

Component Checklist

  1. 65x65 avatar — your OWN avatar representing you or your organisation
  2. Author name — how you'd like to be credited at the top of the article
  3. Article title — this one was “If You're Interested in Guest Posts”. Alternatively called the “headline”
  4. Article sub-title — the bolded text after your author name. Can be used to build article hype, throw out your main point, and more!
  5. Article footer — the italicised section at the end of each article. A great place to talk about yourself as the author, and to put a call-to-action
  6. Article body — the actual article

Rules

Articles guest-posted here are not to be posted on any other site (including your own, but feel free to link to it) and become the property of KoopaTV! That means we own them. Please be ORIGINAL.

If you are part of an organisation, please clearly state your affiliation and motivation for wanting to submit content to us up-front. We appreciate honesty over obfuscation. We do not respond to agencies. Please contact us directly.

If you haven't had someone who is fluent in English proofread your guest article (if you're fluent, you count), don't bother submitting to us. We hate gibberish.

You must be INTERESTING. KoopaTV thrives off of editorials and our readers come here to read interesting prose with compelling opinions. Please give them a value-added experience. For examples of interesting content, please go and read KoopaTV's articles. Listicles (articles that are just a disjointed list) are not interesting.

If you write an e-mail to our staff, and it's not personalised and it's clear you have no idea what KoopaTV even is about, we reserve the right to mock you in our reply back. Please take any amount of time to research our site and its existing content, and, again, please be honest. Our decision whether or not we're interested in what you have to say has nothing to do with how much you flatter us, by the way. Don't lie.

KoopaTV will not pay you to write a guest article on our site. KoopaTV will also not accept payments from you for us to write on your behalf.

KoopaTV Style Guide:

[Avatar representing yourself at the top left corner of your post] By [INSERT YOUR NAME HERE IN ALL CAPS] - Sub-title.

Largest font size first letter that's bolded and then normal font size for the rest of the post by default (you may use discretion if you want to add emphasis somewhere with larger font size but bold/italics/paragraph breaks are probably best for this).

Use the pagebreak button after your first full paragraph or whenever there is something resembling a cliffhanger. This will generate a "Read More" on the front page of the blog so people will click on that to see the rest of your article, giving your article a page view.

Justified alignment. Line break between paragraphs. Blogspot doesn't allow for tab paragraph breaks so we don't use them.

Always put the accent mark in Pokémon, and use em-dashes (—) or en-dashes (–) when appropriate instead of hyphens. Don't censor plumbers' names, but try not to refer to their names directly if you can avoid it. Say things like "plumber", "mass-murderers", "that fellow with the red hat", or whatever creative things you'd like.

Always put game titles in italics and bold company names the first time they are mentioned in the article. Such as, "in Pikmin 3 by Nintendo, players control all of the types of Pikmin from Pikmin 2, along with new types like Stone and Flying!"

Always link your sources but with text displaying the source instead of a direct url, like according to CainTV, Brock Abomasnow is a bad president.

Only put one space after a period. Also, put only one space after a comma, too. Along with every other punctuation point.

Always put captions on your images.

Images are best uploaded rather than linked to by url, because if urls change or the site goes down, the picture is gone.
And that has happened a lot.

Avoid citing from the "Stay Away From These" list.

End of post (separate with two line breaks), have italics and a sentence about you, what you're up to, contacted information, personal site, or wotever info.

Guest Commentary vs. Guest Art

Guest Art should be anything that is not you commenting on something. Guest Commentary is basically the equivalent of KoopaTV's "General", "Gaming Commentary", "Reviews", or "Enlightenment Movement" categories. Example things that would fall under Guest Art would be original images, photographs, fan-fiction, songs, original games, poetry, videos, etc. In other words, any fan-works. This includes both fan-works of KoopaTV canon or of games.

There have been many times where KoopaTV's staff has taken fan-produced art (whether requested by the staff or simply given) and incorporated it within our own articles rather than publish something within the Guest Art category. KoopaTV would always prefer some kind of writing to go with an image or video-based submission if it were to be its own article. (Search engines, too.)

Us Guest-Posting For You

If you think we're an interesting set of authors and we can add some interesting flavour to your site, we're totally okay with guest-writing for your site! As long as we can link to and advertise KoopaTV in that guest post. We'll follow whatever format you want.

Changelog

UPDATE 5/19/13: KoopaTV is supporting an additional guest-based category named "Guest Art" in order to differentiate guest-supplied commentary and guest-supplied creative endeavors.

Ludwig is looking forward to audience participation. He also wants an audience commenting on his Miiverse posts, which you can find by following him at NNID PrinceOfKoopas. He also has YouTube videos which can also be found at PrinceOfKoopas, but YouTube comments usually suck, so...

The Importance of Miiverse

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - To Nintendo's strategy, anyway.

Nintendo, in their recent Earnings Release, has described part of their strategy to achieve the goal of 100 billion yen in operating profit for the next fiscal year.
Nintendo strives to improve the sales by communicating the compelling nature of our hardware and software to as many people as possible through our new network service called “Miiverse,” which offers an environment where people can empathize with others and share their gaming experiences.

Launching KoopaTV!

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - This is definitely gonna be interesting.

Today marks the launch for us here at KoopaTV. We've brought in a team of regular contributors, and from today forward you can count on our reporting and analysis of what's happening in the news.

We're going to have daily videos for you to enjoy. Not only that, but now I want to introduce you to our team of commentators who will follow the news and give you our take on a many-times-daily basis. They are:

Ludwig Von Koopa. You've heard of me, right? I'm the boss of Koopa Keep, and I will give you my insights regularly, and I'll also contribute a daily video commentary. I lead the Enlightenment Movement, an educational revolution. We don't think of things the way the usual person might, and we have personal experience for why we don't. I've had plenty of experience over the years building long-distance communities, and I pay attention to the pulse of the fanbase.

YoshiRider123. A frequent contributor to NeoGAF and a moderator at NSider2, YR described our decision to add him to the team this way: "lol." Right. I am honestly a little scared. He was never actually in Koopa Keep, but that won't stop us. He's probably the most sane of the bunch as a result. I don't think he actually believes in the Enlightenment Movement, either.

RawkHawk2010. Rawk is quite the media figure in his own right. After years of posting on NSider, Rawk still does the occasional NeoGAF gig - including one post where he proclaimed his allergy to Miyamoto's toxic gameplay-first philosophies. Rawk was also with the DKVine for many years (those people with all the reports touting Rare characters), so you can depend on lack of sensibilities coming from Rawk.

Kamek. Our chief researcher, Kamek's main contribution will be his daily briefing. It's a no-frills, just-the-facts presentation of key information you need to know every morning. If you want to be armed with facts to win the debates of the day, Kamek's daily briefing is a must. He's been with Koopa Keep for many years.

So we'll be ready to roll, and not a moment too soon with E3 starting and Nintendo Directs throughout. It's a great time to roll out KoopaTV, and a great time for you to join in the discussion!

Follow Ludwig on Miiverse at PrinceOfKoopas, or his YouTube and deviantART accounts by the same name.

YoshiRider123 is no longer part of KoopaTV.
RawkHawk2010 is on unpaid administrative leave.
We hired a new dude. His name is Vortexica.
