President Donald Trump's Fourth Year Reflection

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - If I wrote “Last Year Reflection”, there'd be a non-zero chance that'd age poorly!

If you thought KoopaTV's Game of THAT Year 2020 Awards closed out the year of 2020... you'd be right. Technically, January 2020 to January 2021 isn't a time period that's exclusive to just 2020! Yes, KoopaTV is reflecting on our fourth year coverage of the Donald John Trump presidency. He wasn't re-elected, so this is the last of this multi-year series... unless he runs in 2023 and wins election in 2024. I... don't recommend that he goes and does that, however.

KoopaTV is doing this list because we're a reason that President Donald John Trump got into power to begin with. We won't be doing this sort of recap list next year for President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. because we didn't endorse him. That means we don't feel like we have to be accountable for whatever actions he does in office, since we never said a good word for him! But with the 45th President, we want to be responsible and accountable.

In KoopaTV's first year of coverage, we wrote 19 articles where the main topic was about President Donald John Trump, with 9 articles with positive coverage, 1 article of neutral coverage, and 9 articles containing negative coverage. However, KoopaTV's second year of coverage was not only reduced with only 9 articles in that year, but only 2 of those were positive, 2 were neutral, and 5 were negative. Likewise, in the third year of coverage, we also wrote 9 articles, but 3 were positive, 1 was neutral, and 5 were negative.

In this article, I'm concluding what we've done in previous years with a tabulated list of KoopaTV's coverage about former President Donald John Trump from January 2020 to January 2021. I've judged whether that coverage was positive, neutral, or negative. For an easy summary, there's a table at the end.

Articles that mention President Donald John Trump in passing, but aren't about him, are excluded from this. Same goes for articles that are dedicated to trashing his political opponents, since those are not a reflection on him!

For fun, try guessing what the ratio will be before getting to the end.

All dates in this article are in mm/dd/yyyy format.

Description:
The President stated early in his State of the Union 2020 that tired platitudes are gone, and then proceeds to be spouting nothing but platitudes by the end. I don't even really remember this speech happening a year later, and that's a good thing for me. A bad thing for his rating.

Let's Talk About the Biased Media Smear Tactic: "Without Evidence"

Topic and Positivity:
General Trump
Negative
Description:
Me describing this article as negative on President Donald John Trump may be controversial, so I'll explain it in detail. The article attacks the mainstream media for biased, one-sided anti-Trump reporting. They hold him to one standard, while his political opponents are held to a much easier standard. Attacking the media for attacking President Donald John Trump is not itself a pro-Trump positive message. In terms of what the article actually says about him, it makes no attempt to judge the veracity of the negative coverage against him. Instead, the article opens up with a high-energy pre-president moment where he pwned the media in 2016, and by the end of it, concludes that he's low-energy and SAD! He's no longer able to adeptly outdo the media, and he's just confusing and inadequate. I even say at the end, “We're not excusing President Donald John Trump's poor relationship with facts and the truth, especially since, as president, he has apparently ceased his ability to back up his points compared to his 2016 presidential campaign.” That is a very negative message, and it implies some kind of cognitive decline on his part—which directly contradicts his campaign message that he's still cognitively amazing in his 70s, unlike Joe Biden.

Election 2020
Positive
Description:
I could've easily disliked the Republican National Convention of 2020, but I liked it. I emphasised in my write-up that it was mostly a positive, uplifting, optimistic event, that actually showcased the President's accomplishments and policy positions. This contrasted greatly with the Democratic National Convention of 2020, which was boring and filled with unwarranted pessimism and doom. I especially liked the attention on criminal justice reform and foreign policy. (If only the campaign talked like this for the next two months...)

Description:
This was an awful debate, and a large part of it is President Donald John Trump's fault. He constantly interrupted the moderator and his opponent, and there was very little substance shared. I said at the end of the article, “Let's not talk about this debate ever again.” So... that's as much detail as I'm willing to provide.

2020 Vice-Presidential Debate: Mike Pence vs. Kamala Harris!

Election 2020
Positive
Description:
Although President Donald John Trump didn't appear in this debate (he was busy contending with the Chinese Communist Party Virus on a very personal level), his Vice President, Mike Pence, did, and defended his policies while attacking those of his opposition. Mike Pence was actually quite competent, and that reflects well on Donald Trump.

Description:
KoopaTV endorsed President Donald John Trump for re-election in 2020, so obviously, that's a positive sentiment. I wrote why he's a better choice than Libertarian Dr. Jo Jorgensen. (It's a foregone conclusion that he's better than Democrat Joe Biden.)

2020 Presidential Debates: Trump vs. Biden, Night 2

Election 2020
Positive
Description:
This was a much better debate than Night 1. The then-President debated like a normal human being, and he clearly demonstrated, based on Joe Biden's long record of public service, that Joe Biden is incompetent in actually accomplishing things. Meanwhile, in under four years, President Donald John Trump had accomplished quite a bit! I thought he was effective, but unfortunately, early voting made it so most people had already voted when this debate aired.

Republicans Need to Get Rid of MIKE LINDELL

Topic and Positivity:
Election 2020
Negative
Description:
Donald Trump has now lost his bid for re-election, although at the time the article was published (and perhaps at the time THIS article is published), he hasn't yet realised or accepted that fact. One reason for the loss was the former President putting MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell—an incompetent grifter and charlatan, though a big supporter of Donald Trump's—in charge of managing his campaign in Minnesota. Everything bad that Mike Lindell did (outlined in the article) is also a reflection on Donald J. Trump, since he put his faith in the fraud because he values loyalty, not merit.

KoopaTV had eleven articles primarily about President Donald John Trump in 2020—with nothing really applying in January 2021. And once again, KoopaTV had net-negative coverage of President Donald John Trump. Nearly all of KoopaTV's positive coverage was us just trying to get him re-elected, as opposed to actual good things the President was doing in 2020. A big part of that is that most of 2020 was just one story (the pandemic), which is sort of repetitive to talk about. Like, if it wasn't for the election (but the pandemic was still occurring), we just wouldn't have talked about the President. Maybe the readers would've appreciated that.

It may or may not be contradictory that KoopaTV re-endorsed Donald John Trump for a second term, yet there has never had a year during his presidency where we've had net-positive coverage. I don't think it's a contradiction—that's just how American politics works. A lot of imperfect people, but you'd still rather have one imperfect guy over the other. (Alternatively, there's the unproven theory that any given KoopaTV article is more likely to have a negative tone than a positive tone.)

Was KoopaTV too harsh on President Donald John Trump in 2020? ...Not harsh enough? How should KoopaTV treat President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr.? ...Or should the site finally learn to stay away from politics? If you comment about it in the KoopaTV comments section, your concerns will be read by a staffer, and replied to!

    1. You liked this from just last week!

Koopa Kingdom will have to reflect on our methods, since all we really accomplished in 2020 was almost get into war with the Trump administration, and get our favoured candidate to lose.

  2. I say keep the politics going, in these strange times a lot of individuals who don't agree to think about things a certain way are being silenced. Might as well have them silence you than silence yourself. Never give up the fight, do not gentle into that good night!

I thought your coverage was fine, the fact that you take the time to actually criticize things and stick with the fact that you disagree with them is terrific. Than say, saying your critical of something and then going out and endorsing/doing said thing. Have i said 'thing' 10 times yet?

  3. Keep the politics if it's your real take. No one says we have to agree and it is not common enough to annoy.
