KoopaTV's February 2020 Review Newsletter

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Hey, that went by pretty quick.

It turns out that February 2020 was about 3.57% longer than the median February. That made no impact on KoopaTV whatsoever, and it didn't feel like that extra day—they (the powers that be) refer to 2020 as a “leap year” apparently because you jump over the extra day like it was nothing—made any existential difference. February is still the month with the smallest quantity of KoopaTV content out of any month of the year that doesn't involve a tragedy or crisis that results in reduced output levels.

Our non-Koopa Kingdom audience happens to be in the midst of a pandemic, but if anything, staying home or in a quarantine facility should increase KoopaTV readership and engagement. Not like you're gonna go outside or anything.

Let's check out some of the content from February 2020 that you can find so engaging:

KoopaTV's Top Five Recommended Experiences of February 2020

This chronologically ordered list is of recommended experiences on KoopaTV published during February 2020. The articles not on this list are still worth reading and may even be quite important. I snubbed several important features, in fact.
  1. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Version 7.0.0 (February) Fighter Usage Stats! — Version 7.0.0 of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate made many changes to the metagame. How were these reflected in the character usage stats? Check out all of the activity!
  2. Some (but not all) Pokémon Leakers Found: Lousy Gaming Journalist! — It's incredibly important to KoopaTV that the (gaming) media is held responsible for their wrongdoing, and when they're involved in the detestable action of leaking, they need to be fully transparent.
  3. Help Me Understand Shigeru Miyamoto's Senile Nintendo Video Content Answer — To this day, Ludwig still doesn't understand what Shigeru Miyamoto was trying to say. Hopefully this newsletter will help shed light on this conundrum.
  4. Ring Fit Adventure Fitness Log Week 15: Here's A Quiz! — Ludwig's Fitness Fridays series takes an unusual and cerebral walkthrough-like flavour with the curious and quizzical world of Quizton in Ring Fit Adventure.
  5. The Switch Tax Myth, and Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition — Ludwig slays a persistent myth that makes Nintendo owners out to be victims with evidence and logic.

Best Three Comments and One Worst Comment of February 2020

How about y'all? KoopaTV isn't a one-way avenue between our staff and you. You have the obligation to make YOUR voices heard. And we feature that in our newsletter, as well as giving you a reply.

  1. “I've been trying to do this all day, glad I found something about it, it means I'm not the only one lol” — Anonymous
  2. “This has been happening to me for months, and no reply from Nintendo and trying to use their help forums is nothing but hoop jumping. 😠” — miniMewtwo
  3. “It's one thing to be excluded from Super Smash Bros, but it's a whole nother level when the series' own publisher excludes Phoenix from their own marketing. Just imagine if it was another company, say Nintendo, and they excluded the plumber from an ad featuring their biggest franchises. As great as this sounds, it just would not make any sense. Then again, that is Capcom for you.” — Kody B.

I made an excellent decision at the beginning-ish of February and wrote an article about the horrendous debacle of Nintendo's error codes (2801-7180 and 2801-7181) that prevented people from posting Nintendo Switch screenshots and videos to Facebook. It's fixed now. I just posted something to my private Switch-dedicated Facebook. But KoopaTV's article ended up being one of the best-ranking articles on search engines for the issue, so we got a lot of comments that made me feel good.

I particularly like the idea of KoopaTV being helpful to people, and people feeling like they're not alone as a result of KoopaTV. You're not alone! ...Not for having a common and network-wide issue that lasts for several weeks, and more importantly, not for any of the other opinions you have that you may share with those expressed on KoopaTV. (For example, what Kody B. said.)

By the way, miniMewtwo definitely humoured me with his bash on Techsider. I found his thread there, and it got censored weeks after the fact for “implied profanity.” I don't know what he wrote, but he was pretty mild-mouthed on KoopaTV's comments section. The fact that it took the admins so long to censor him is emblematic of how badly Nintendo handled that. By comparison, I gave him a reply within four hours.

As for the worst comment:

  1. “nice” — Anonymous

Come on, at least use capitalisation and punctuation. Anyway, it's quite possible that his comment was relevant—after all, he was commenting on the Live Reactions to Watching Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us reaction log article, which won an award for the best Reaction Log of 2019. I replied to Anonymous's comment with some truly “nice” news that everyone should appreciate. See, we're making something out of nothing here.

Still a bad comment, however. (S)he should've elaborated.

Corrections Corner; February 2020

I made a Freudian Slip during February. I wrote that Boston mayor Marty Walsh was “abusing” Sony of xenophobia with his asinine letter to the Japanese company from not appearing at PAX East (where there wasn't any confirmed cases of coronavirus... that we're aware of). I was supposed to write “accusing.” That said, he was abusing them as well, so the intent was there. Thank you to Samantha Lienhard for pointing that one out.

KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program Round 30 RESULTS!

Round 30 of the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program concluded on February 28, since February 29 is lame and not canon. (Except 2016.)
  1. Lheticus Videre — 59 points
  2. Samantha Lienhard — 30 points
  3. Kody B. — 19 points
Despite Mr. Videre's claim that he wasn't trying to win, he won, so he's going to receive a $10 Nintendo eShop code in his email sometime soon.

Announcing KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program Round 31!

You saw this happening, didn't you? Today I'm announcing Round 31 of the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program! It's backdated to the beginning of March, and ends at the conclusion of April 2020. Read that page to learn how to participate, and the effective ways of doing so.

The prize for Round 31 will be one $10 Nintendo eShop gift card code for the first place winner. It's the last one I have, so I need to go purchase more.

This happens to be the five-year anniversary of us beginning the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program, but you can't trick me into doing things for an anniversary's sake.

KoopaTV Feedback Form Part XXIV and KoopaTV Quiz Part XXIV Now Available!

Yikes, we need to abolish Roman numerals. The KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program itself doesn't use them. Why do the KoopaTV Feedback Forms and Quizzes located here do?

That's a continuing question, but while I try to figure that out, check out the new stuff and get good KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program points. Hint: One of the quiz questions comes from the Ring Fit Adventure Quizton article.

You ought to subscribe to KoopaTV so new articles appear right in your inbox, every day. Click here to make that happen. It's very convenient.
