Amazing Fun Last Weekend

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Mostly Sunday. Sunday the fun day!

This blog is called KoopaTV.

We reserve the right to just give you videos instead of written commentary. So, take that! It's me unboxing for the very first time... Super Smash Bros. For 3DS! Like I said I would.

Oh fine, you want bold commentary with an attitude? ...We got some of that too.

In other news, KoopaTV's staff had an amazing set of... um... "Smash Fors" last night. Since Super Smash Bros. For 3DS has no Miiverse functionality or replay-sharing (Super Smash Bros. Brawl allowed you to send replay videos to your Wii friends... which were a different list than your Brawl friends... so stop complaining that Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection got taken down because that was a MESS of a system), I'll just use my words.

Though RawkHawk2010 vows to film a particular replay using a camera on his 3DS. Good luck with that. If he does do that, we'll be sure to post it here. It features myself, him, and Kamek all playing as Little Mac (that happened unintentionally) on the Kirby's Dream Land side-scrolling stage with items. I... lost pretty early because Little Mac can't platform (of course, everyone else was Little Mac and they were still alive) and... well, there was some amazing failure on Rawk's part. He called it the most embarrassing match he's ever been in. More so than this one.

You'll have to stay tuned for that.

By the way, the whole plastic cover of Rawk's Circle Pad flew off. And there is only half of the nub left underneath. The cover is attachable but half of it isn't even on anything!

Custom movesets are great. Equipment on the other hand is evil. I am whole-heartedly in favour of banning equipment in competitive play and banning certain equipment from casual play. (Not all equipment: RawkHawk's flying Donkey Kong (and I mean flying) was pretty amazing even if it crashed the Internet connection.) Top among those is a bonus that gives you invincibility for SEVEN WHOLE SECONDS at 100% damage, and also a certain equipment bonus that regenerates your health just for sitting pretty, which I didn't even know existed but I guess Nintendo does:
"
  • Equipment with the following Bonus Effects are not permitted:
    • Vampire: Life Stealing
    • Shield Healer: Shield restores health
    • Escape Artist: Shield Counter
    • Equipment that gives players an item when entering a battle: Star Rod, Lip’s Stick, Nintendo Scope, Ray Gun, Fire Flower, Beam Sword, Home Run Bat, Bomb-Omb, Mr. Saturn
    • Auto-Healer: Auto-Heal
    • Pity Final Smasher: Final Smash After Respawning
    • Final Smash Healer: Healing Smash Ball
    • Double Final Smasher: Double Final Smash
    • Sudden Death Gambler: Lucky Sudden Death"

Super Smash Bros. For 3DS custom characters Ness auto-healer PSICHICKMAGNET
I think this was the only time in Miiverse history a non-KoopaTV staffer asked us to embed their post on KoopaTV.

That Ness healed 169% over the course of a three stock match. It's evil.

We have a lot more to say about Super Smash Bros. For 3DS, because this game is packed with things to talk about. This game is FUN.

As always, stay tuned to KoopaTV for all the latest (and greatest) videogame commentary. And for now, "videogame" just means "Super Smash Bros." because KoopaTV probably won't talk about much else. For our friend codes, look here!

For a much better launch weekend article, here's the one for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

  1. Hmm, is that PL vs PW I spy in your 3DS before you put Smash in? :P

I, too, have removed PL vs PW to play Smash, although I've only played a little bit. And lost a lot. And made a Blackquill Mii fighter. And tried random characters.
