LEGO Super Mario Announces: Master Your Adventure Maker Set... with LARRY KOOPA?!!?

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Larry, don't associate yourself with this or you'll get...hurt. Not by me, but by HIM and his coerced Earth children!

I recognise, both from KoopaTV page views/search traffic and Nintendo's holiday 2020 gift finder page, that a lot of people are interested in the Nintendo and LEGO collaboration products that released August 1, 2020. I'm personally very concerned about the LEGO Super Mario series in terms of their effects on children, and I'll get into that a bit more in this article. Here's a LEGO-Nintendo trailer that just went out, though, announcing new LEGO Super Mario products to come for January 1, 2021:

Let's review exactly what's announced and their suggested retail prices, and then I'll give my signature analysis and thoughts:

  1. Master Your Adventure Maker Set (60 USD/EUR)
  2. Three Expansion Sets
    1. Chain Chomp Jungle Encounter Expansion Set (20 USD/EUR)
    2. Piranha Plant Puzzling Challenge Expansion Set (30 USD/EUR)
    3. Wiggler's Poison Swamp Expansion Set (40 USD/EUR)
  3. Two Power-Up Packs
    1. Penguin Mario Power-Up Pack (10 USD/EUR)
    2. Tanooki Mario Power-Up Pack (10 USD/EUR)
  4. Series 2 of the LEGO Super Mario Character Packs (5 USD/4 EUR for a pack; content of pack is random)
    1. Huckit Crab
    2. Spiny Cheep Cheep
    3. Ninji
    4. Foo
    5. Parachute Goomba
    6. Fly Guy
    7. Poison Mushroom
    8. Para-Beetle
    9. Thwimp
    10. Bone Goomba

LARRY KOOPA, YOU BETTER GET OFF THAT TOWER THIS INSTANT.
This is for your own good!

The “Maker” in the name appears to refer to the extra customisable nature of this set, with everything announced today and already out all compatible. There is also a “Customisation Machine” that apparently changes how Mario reacts to “three Special Bricks,” plus a “new special Start Pipe that will shuffle the known rules of the level play” that you may have seen in the trailer.

Mario is happily—because he's a depraved monster—knocking an innocent and otherwise happy Larry Koopa off the tower.
Larry wasn't hurting anyone. He's literally dead last in the “Which Koopaling is the biggest troublemaker?” poll!
(I'm in first place, by the way, but it's very close between me and Lemmy Koopa.)

There was a question in the KoopaTV Quiz Part XXVI, which you can find in the whole archive of KoopaTV's Feedback Forms and Quizzes, which was, “Which of these characters lacks a character pack in the LEGO Super Mario series?” The correct answer was Chain Chomp, and this is still technically a correct answer, because Chain Chomp is part of an expansion set, not a character pack. Instead, a Poison Mushroom is now considered to be a character. By the way, unlike, say, Boomer Bills from the first release, all of the characters in this second release's expansion sets and character packs aren't made up.

The LEGO press release quotes Simon Kent, the Design Director and Creative Lead on the project, as claiming that Super Mario is “everyone's favourite Plumber” (which, while a highly offensive statement against Luigi, also serves as proof against that FAKE NEWS claim a few years ago that Mario suddenly stopped being a plumber) but also that this new set lets “players be as imaginative as possible in the way they have Mario interact with his friends – as well as defeating his enemies.” I'm not sure who in these sets are supposed to be Mario's friends, but in terms of new ways to defeat his enemies (such as yours truly, and my family)...

LARRY! NO! HE'S GONNA FALL OFF THE TABLE!!
Those jerk humans and Mario will SUFFER for this INDIGNITY.

It's not just Koopas that will be victims of this death-trap making scheme between Mario and the humans... Like, can someone describe to me what the heck is Mario doing to this Wiggler? Is THIS an example of how Mario “interacts with his friends”?

Ludwig Von Koopa wonders why Larry Koopa specifically got involved in all of this, but the older blue-haired Koopaling is glad it's not him. Still, he has to be careful, because one of these days, it COULD be him, and then KoopaTV might be no more! Pray for Larry Koopa and the other citizens of Koopa Kingdom (and...the Wiggler) in the comments section below, and maybe give your thoughts on if children should be exposed to this horrible plumber-created behaviour.

There was also a LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System set for adults.
Want a Bone Goomba for sure? Bone Goomba will be a standard part of the August 2021-bound LEGO Luigi set, the next announcement in this series.
KoopaTV staffer Kamek is being pulled into the LEGO horrors as part of an expansion set releasing August 2021.
Larry Koopa is alive enough to compete and lose in the Equestion Individual at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.
Ludwig, Lemmy, and Kamek are all getting LEGO forms for August 2022.
Iggy Koopa, too!

  1. Lord, I pray for your protection over Ludwig, Larry, the Wiggler, and all other citizens of the Koopa Kingdom. Deliver them from this evil that has caused so much devastation to their land. Bless them, heal them, and keep them safe from this demonic plumber. Amen.

  2. These Lego sets have so much potential but look kinda boring. The only good one is the Lego NES/TV and that's like 300 dollars! I would much prefer a Peaches castle Lego set, akin to that of the Disney and Hogwarts castles. They could have paintings in all the rooms, and you could connect separate sets like bob-bomb battlefield. Sigh, but instead we have this.

      ...That would actually be amazing.

    2. Are you not seeing the bigger picture here? if larry is here, that means there could be different waves of lego mario sets for each koopaling, which means...

    3. ...Which means I'll end up in one, and that's something I'd like to avoid and nip in the bud.
