KoopaTV's November 2019 Review Newsletter

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Yes, vember!

Cheers, and welcome to the November 2019 KoopaTV newsletter! Want to know what this strange but lovable KoopaTV site is all about? Wondering what happened in the past month, that of November? Or maybe you enjoy reflecting on the immediate past—and it feels immediate, since it went by fast.

Sure, this newsletter can assist in that. Let us get started. There's no breaking news, by the way. Sometimes that's in these newsletters. Not this time. You'll still like the base content, though.

The Top Five Recommended KoopaTV Experiences of November 2019

Personally, I think I'm a genius writer. What do you think when you see these five chronologically-ordered articles? (And if they're not listed but were published in November 2019, then they're still worth reading.)
  1. Buying Pokémon Sword/Shield? Why I Won't—You know, I wrote this article so people wouldn't ask me if I've gotten Pokémon Shield yet. I obviously have the money and the means. I just don't want to, and this article explains why.
  2. Catastrophic: YouTube Culls Comments For COPPA—A lot of people are concerned about what the FTC vs. Google settlement means for YouTube as it results to the application of COPPA law. KoopaTV wades through the fear and misinformation and gives you the information you need, as well as KoopaTV's own policy.
  3. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: Version 6.0.0 (November) Fighter Usage Stats!—I really like the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 6.0.0 update, since it buffed Jigglypuff. But how did the buffs and Terry's addition affect how much each character is used in online play? I compiled the stats!
  4. Why Pokémon National Dexers Failed But Sonic's Movie Got Redesigned—A reader asked why the whole Dexit movement was a failure, but the backlash for Sonic the Hedgehog's movie got a successful redesign. I dig into the philosophies behind fan-driven change at big companies.
  5. Eric Swalwell's #Fartgate Spirit Battle—I believe this article is the only fart joke I've written in KoopaTV's six and a half year history, and it's very well done, too! Makes fun of a guy who deserves scorn, but in KoopaTV's truth & levity style.
There's articles not on here that I'm referencing a lot already, as well as the new Ring Fit Adventure fitness log series that's published weekly. Those are great and in a style not seen on KoopaTV before.

Best Three Comments and One Worst Comment of November 2019

Genius and super well-made content deserves audience feedback and participation, so this is the part of the newsletter that showcases... YOU!
  1. “My friend, who has serious competitive Pokemon VGC chops--seriously, I've seen him beat genuinely good competitive players and I'm encouraging him to go for VGC Worlds in 2020--is really hyped about these mints, but yeah from a Watsonian perspective it's pretty disturbing. Either way, I wish Pokemon could be realistic enough to express Natures in Pokemon behavior somehow.” — Lheticus Videre
  2. “Hey, thank you so much for transcribing the credits for this title! I've been looking for them for a long time.” — RBM95
  3. “You really are learning from the pro, Phoenix Wright. It's amazing how your assumptions on what happened behind the scenes of the Sonic Movie were right:

    https://twitter.com/TailsChannel/status/1199877441243758593?s=20

"Major #SonicMovie redesign details from the Schneider interview:
    - Paramount pushed for a realistic Sonic. They knew fans wouldn't like it, but believed it was going to be generally accepted.
    - Facing backlash, a meeting with SEGA was held and they decided to delay. "

They managed to interview an employee working on the film:

I liked the discussion that ensued about Watsonian vs. Doylist perspectives. I like being vindicated for non-traditional article concepts like posting the credits to Pocket Card Jockey that have never been published before. And, of course, being flattered along the lines of the once-amazing Phoenix Wright for being right? Love that.

I'm not thrilled about comments like this:
  1.  “Why, IOC? WHY? WHY AREN'T MARIO AND SONIC AT THE PEYONGCHANG 2018 WINTER OLYMPICS?” — Unknown

I'm wondering why people are still searching about the 2018 Olympics when the 2020 Olympics are already a thing that's underway. I'm actively training for it! Move on with your lives!

Corrections Corner; November 2019

There weren't any on-site corrections for November 2019. Booyah!

KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program Round 29 Mid-Round Leaderboard

I could promote the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program a lot more than I already do. But I don't want to attract the wrong crowd. KoopaTV is all about implicitly enjoying literacy-based high-value content. The KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program is a bonus explicit incentive for long-term sticking around. It shouldn't be the first reason you're here, so it shouldn't be the first thing people find out about KoopaTV. I figure it being mentioned at the top (below the banner) and bottom (comments section) of every page on the site is enough plugging. Still, you'd think with the stupidly generous prize structure for Round 29, these as-of-publishing numbers would be higher:
  1. ShinyGirafarig — 24 points
  2. Lheticus Videre — 21 points
  3. Kody B. — 12 points
  4. Samantha Lienhard — 9 points
  5. RBM95 — 5 points
  6. C.Mechayoshi — 1 point
...If you're interested in getting first place and winning some delicious money-equivalents, then see the page on the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program for all the details. If you're under 13 years old, you can't participate.

Share KoopaTV's articles to people and make Ludwig a happier Koopaling. His mood has been as blue as his hair... for months. Maybe even a year. Maybe more. Help the guy out. It's good for you, too.

The October 2019 newsletter from last month is over here! That one was full of good info.
Next month's December 2019 newsletter concludes Round 29.
The November 2018 newsletter from last year was... really interesting.
The November 2020 newsletter is nice, though not REALLY interesting.

  1. Sweet, I got a top comment! Now that I'm, well, saying stuff, I've been thinking I want to write a guest article on the massive economic crisis that the Mushroom Kingdom is clearly facing judging by the rampant deflation it's experienced between LM1 and LM3. I'm more serious about this one than the last idea I had for one of these that didn't even get started, too.

    1. I sent you archived links for that last idea and everything!

It's been my intention since 2013 to write a highly-detailed article about Gold Coin inflation, but I never bothered to do the research and effort for it. Whoops.
