KoopaTV's July 2015 Review Newsletter

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Super-eventful month that was.

If you missed out on KoopaTV throughout the whole month of July, then you probably have no idea what's going on. The site has dramatically changed.

NEW DOMAIN NAME!

Obviously, now every instance of koopatv.blogspot.com has redirected to our new domain name, http://www.koopatv.org. Hope you noticed the new logo and domain name. Our Contacts page and other pages have also been updated with our new contact details, being our sexy e-mail forwarding. That logo is hopefully permanent until a temporary event pops up.

Cookies Consent!

We did add more white space between the top of the page and the logo because apparently there is some new European Union law requiring notification that we're eating your cookies. (Read more about our policy here.) If you're not in the European Union, then you don't have to worry about getting it.

Perfect.

...As for our mobile users, well, you're probably screwed either way:

Anyway, that's not even all that's happened this month, so here's one of those rare newsletters with A PAGE BREAK!

TV Tropes Page!

We opened up a TV Tropes page (well, multiple), and when we said there was a partnership with them, we weren't kidding. I mean, we thought we were, but... well, that's not fully hashed out yet so that's all I'll say on that.

KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program update!

We would like to extend a new opportunity with the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program (all information here) with regards to our TV Tropes presence, but first let's show the standings for Round 3! (Ending August 30, with the prize being a Nintendo eShop $10 code!)

  1. Samantha Lienhard — 38 points
  2. JoystickLad — 38 points
  3. Sam — 11 points
  4. sadisticmedic — 10 points
  5. Marmar Omgcheez — 6 points
  6. Angie — 6 points
That's right: We got a bunch of ties. It's a first-wins-all round, so the people below Samantha Lienhard and JoystickLad are just exposition. That's not to say that it's impossible to make a comeback: If you start now, work hard, and abuse what the rules allow, you can still win even starting from nothing!

By the way, please don't end the round in a tie for first place, 'cause I have no idea what happens if there is a tie.

So! TV Tropes. If you make a substantive edit relating to KoopaTV on TV Tropes, and then tell us that edit happened in a comment on KoopaTV's website, you will get a point for your edit! (One point per day.)

It's the perfect opportunity to waste your life on TV Tropes looking for applicable tropes, while also immersing yourself in KoopaTV's 2+ year lore and history! You can be the Art History major you've always wanted to be! (Unless you actually are one, in which case we'll make fun of you if you let us know.)

BREAKING VIDEOGAME NEWS!

Defend Anita Sarkeesian has been removed from Scratch's website (the programming environment we used to make it also hosted it), which means it now shows a 404 error when embedded onto KoopaTV.

Defend Anita Sarkeesian censorship Scratch MIT kids 8 and up
"We removed this project because it is too mature for the Scratch website.
Scratch is for kids ages 8 and up, so it's important that everything shared is appropriate for all ages."

We wonder what took them so long to declare it a violation. Perhaps the TV Tropes moderator that helped our page actually reported the game behind our back? (...If that's true, we really need to know that.) So what will become of the game? We... don't know yet. We wonder if whoever reported it actually played it or just saw the "NOT FOR CHILDREN." warning and took action from there.

We definitely want to make sure this jewel of KoopaTV history is not lost to the world, and we'll keep you posted on further developments. For now, Ludwig still has the Scratch file saved to his computer and he can just give it to you and you can play it privately.

TOP FIVE RECOMMENDED ARTICLES!

And now for what you usually only expect from these newsletters: Our five recommended articles from the month of July 2015! (In chronological order.) Without further ado, go read (and for one of them, listen to) these if you haven't:
  1. Bonds and Stock...ings?
  2. KoopaTV.org The Music Video
  3. May Satoru Iwata Rise Directly to Heaven
  4. Nintendo Teaming With Facebook...Super Mario Maker?!
  5. Ramifications of Miiverse Redesign Summer 2015
But as usual, every article is worth reading!

New Affiliates Buttons!

We really want folks to partner with us and help spread our message around. We want those folks to be people we can work well with, and they can work well with us. To that end, we updated our Affiliates page to include some splashable KoopaTV imagery around! So check that out if you have your own website or blog.

New Staff Member!

My sister, Princess Wendy O. Koopa, joined the KoopaTV staff. She hasn't actually done anything yet and it's been like, two weeks. I wonder if we should be worried?

That's all the news for this newsletter. Stay tuned to KoopaTV for more awesome content and drama! And tune into C-SPAN right after this is published (6:30 PM Eastern on August 3 — actual talking at 7 PM Eastern, and reruns at 9:30 PM Eastern) for a Republican presidential forum! The "Voters First Presidential Forum".

Ludwig hopes someone or something out there appreciates that he actually split up the newsletter using headings. Anyway, help share KoopaTV to your friends, enemies, and other dudes. KoopaTV needs your help! So take the call-to-action.
