Pokémon 25th Anniversary Promotions Begin... Katy Perry?

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - A look into their celebratory plans. (Not game announcements.)

I told you all I'm not a fan of speculation when The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) announced at the end of 2020 that they want 2021 to be a big Pokémon year: The 25th anniversary.

...And, I mean, did anyone speculate that they'd start with this? I think not:

That Rube Goldberg machine chain reaction took them a month to get right. It's impressive and very referential to each of the generations/regions in order, like the giant mountain half a minute in being Sinnoh's Mt. Coronet.

As for the ending, I was just trying to learn what a Beyoncé was a few years ago, and now there's this Katy Perry character? I'd think Beyoncé at least has the same é as Pokémon, but TPCi is promising music collaborations with multiple other unnamed artists, not just Katy Perry. I think they should've gotten native musicians that integrate Pokémon into their performance, like Virbank City Gym Leader Roxie and her punk rock band, Koffing and the Toxics. Here's hoping. Anyway, take a look at this:

  1. Pokédex
  2. Pokémon Egg
  3. Pokéblock Case with Pokéblocks inside
  4. Explorer Kit for the Sinnoh Underground
  5. Pokémon Musical Dress Up props
  6. Mega Evolution Key Stone
  7. Electrium Z Crystal
  8. Pokémon Curry cooking set

Cute picture, right? TPCi plans to do regional revisiting every month starting in March with Galar. They should be in Kanto by the end of 2021. There will be other monthly events too, and fun (?) sellable merchandise like oversized underpowered Pokémon cards. I guess they'll get articles if I have nothing else to write about. And who knows, maybe there'll be a game announcement at some point.

Ludwig wished that every region had their own musical sensations, but apparently that's not the case. Are you looking forward to the 25th anniversary promotions? Do you care about this Katy Perry person or her music? Ludwig isn't impressed with her as a person after reading her Wikipedia article. Comment in the comments section!

  1. Hello I am here to say that I approve of this article.

Katy Perry is my favorite Pokemon, I want to keep her in my (Poke)balls and make her do my bidding.

    1. Welcome back to KoopaTV, Health.

...Oh, she's a Pokémon? Alright, that makes a LOT more sense.

    2. Yes she can do the 'moves'. I want her to train and do some 'moves' with me.

I hope the one I catch is shiny, but please no Pokerus. It's very inconsiderate given the times.

    3. Don't you know that Pokerus is just the Democrats' nickname for COVID-21?

Don't drink the proverbial Gamer Fuel, my friend. You are much better than that.

  3. How very nice that they acknowledged the starter Pokemon from every single generation in that image in the end. The only flaw is that Pikachu is also there.

    1. Pikachu is why the Z Crystal is Electrium and not, say, Normalium.

    2. Pikachu is an annoying, smug little yellow git.

  4. I'm kind of excited for this! I'll admit, I did not expect Katy Perry to be a part of the celebration. It was one thing for the Pokemon Company to do a collab with BUMP OF CHICKEN for Sword and Shield, since they're a Japanese group and have done some anime themes in the past, but having an American singer promote the games seems a bit odd. Regardless, I'm looking forward to hearing what she does (hopefully it won't put too much focus on Pikachu and will instead acknowledge the series as a whole) along with the other events taking place throughout the year.

    1. How about Pikachu...AND Eevee?

(Let's face it, it'll just be about Charizard.)
