KoopaTV's June 2017 Review Newsletter

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - A new record!

I don't know about you, but June (and E3 Weeks 2017) went by really quickly, particularly after all of the live reaction logs ended. We had a RECORD-BREAKING number of articles published in a calendar month, at 44 articles in June 2017. 27 of which were live-reaction logs (26 from E3 2017).

I think it was an incredible month, if I do say so myself. Plus, we're still not done with E3-related article content. So, let's go into the top five recommended articles:

Top Five Recommended Articles

Let's discount all of the reaction logs for these top five recommended articles, even though we had some amazing reaction logs. (They'll get their day in KoopaTV's Game of THAT Year award nominations.) There's still a lot of quality content to choose from:

  1. Fidget Spinners Are An Epidemic
  2. The Decapitated Mario Press Conference
  3. Watchin' E3 In Our Beautiful Chairs
  4. E3 2017 Best and Worst Conferences
  5. Reminder: Mario and Cappy CAPTURED Shinzō Abe!
Every article is worth reading, by the way. Believe me. With that out of the way, we also had great reader/player participation over the past two months:

Round 14 of the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program RESULTS!

In terms of comparing Round 14 (May to June 2017) to Round 8 (May to June 2016), we had a comparable level of activity. Apparently, I'm either a tougher judge of truth and levity, or you guys are less funny. ANYWAY, here are the results:

  1. ShinyGirafarig — 85 points
  2. Lheticus Videre — 64 points
  3. Kody B. — 60 points
  4. Samantha Lienhard — 33 points
  5. Nandin Lopez — 31 points
In accordance with the Round 14 super prize pool, ShinyGirafarig will be e-mailed a $25 Amazon code and her choice of a 3rd place prize. Lheticus will be provided a $10 Nintendo eShop code and his choice of a 3rd place prize, and Kody B. will get to choose from a download code for:
Affordable Space Adventures (Wii U), Freedom Planet (Wii U), Citizens of Earth (Wii U), Darksiders II (Wii U), Swords & Soldiers (Wii U), Runbow (Wii U), Retro City Rampage: DX (3DS), Shantae and the Pirate's Curse (3DS), Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure (3DS), Retro City Rampage: Nintendo 3DS Theme (3DS), Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition (3DS), and Nano Assault (3DS).
(1st place chooses first.)

Seriously, get these codes off me. Maybe I should use some for myself, though. Anyway, I would note that if you look at the spreadsheet leaderboard and check out the Round 14 tab, you can see that ShinyGirafarig got literally 33 points in the second-to-last day to jump from 3rd place to a pretty easy 1st. That goes to show that there are some pretty easy ways to get a lot of points very quickly (and even some others that people haven't exploited) in the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program if you try.

Announcing Round 15 of the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program

Where there is a Round 14 results headline, there is a Round 15 announcement. Round 15 will be going on from July 1 (so... it's already started) to August 30, 2017.

The prize will be one Nintendo eShop gift card code worth $10.

While that's not as cool a prize as Round 14's many prizes, I think it's still an awesome incentive to participate on KoopaTV! Especially since it's totally free for you. I recommend trying.

Also, I've clarified a point-obtaining part of guest submissions, with regards to Guest Art. I also... clarified that the Corrections Corner feature doesn't apply to Reaction Logs. (If we had to be ACCURATE in the spur of the moment, we wouldn't publish them.)

Corrections Corner

Congratulations to commenter Matze LP for pointing out that I transcribed my friend code incorrectly in May's Team Kirby Clash Deluxe guide article. I originally wrote that it is 3351-5165-3598, but it is actually 3351-5164-3598. Still, on my 3DS friends list, he is a mere “Provisionally registered friend.” Perhaps we'll never see him again, and he'll never see the corrected friend code...

Either way, this is the FIRST correction on KoopaTV since the Corrections Corner was introduced!

KoopaTV's Feedback Forms and Quizzes: Part XI!

New editions for KoopaTV's Feedback Forms and Quizzes series are now available. Part XI being Part 11! Check them out here. If you forget where you can find that page, it's hyperlinked in the KoopaTV Interactive Pages tab on the top of the website under the logo.

By the way, I'd note this: If Kody B. filled out the form or the quiz (and these are short and take, like, two minutes to do), he'd be in second place in Round 14.

KoopaTV Deleted its Ello Account

Back in November 2014, KoopaTV created a social media presence on a new social networking platform, Ello. It pitched itself as the anti-Facebook, a social network we collectively despised (and still do). Since then, Ello has been a total flop and is some niche place for artists trying to sell crap. Between then and now, KoopaTV got marked as a spam account and has been effectively shadow-banned from their search results, meaning no one's going to look at our stuff. And I've been dutifully updating it every time there was a new article!

So, I deleted it today. We predict no one will miss it. I was also wrong when I said it would be better than our tumblr account. Whoops. Anyway, the appropriate pages on our site have been updated to reflect the Ello's demise.

Share KoopaTV to folks you know, because being shared helps KoopaTV beyond the people you would be sharing KoopaTV to.

  1. Oooh, you have a Tumblr account? +Follow! ^_^

Also, Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure plox. I'm guessing that higher finishers take priority, so if ShinyGirafarig wants it I'll take Shantae and the Pirate's Curse instead.

    1. I barely have time to play video games as much as I used to so you can have it.

    2. ...wait so the two of you are saying give Girafarig the Amazon code; and give Lheticus $10 eShop, Rhythm Thief, and Shantae?

      Delete
    3. No, no, don't give me BOTH game codes. Just Rhythm Thief if he isn't going to make a selection. Shiny, just take a dang game code and like it, geez! Pick one at random if you have to. :P

Just don't pick Affordable Space Adventures because Kody wants it, or Rhythm Thief. But there's no reason for us two to care about any of the others. I didn't really WANT Shantae in the first place, I was going to SETTLE for it if I had to.

    4. ...fine, I'll ask Ms. Alienhard if she wants something.

But I'm pretty sure she got that Humble Bundle too...
      *sigh*

(Maybe share KoopaTV as a website to your friend, too. ...If they'd still be your friend after that.)

  2. You can give a download code to the one in fourth place. I really am not playing much video games now like I used to so I would like someone else who might appreciate it more than me. So second place can get first download code choice and so on.

I pushed myself literally the last few days for the Amazon points because as a parent babies are expensive and I want to get something baby related for her. She's eating solids now so my plan with the Amazon points is this: https://www.amazon.com/Bumkins-Toddler-Mealtime-Feeding-Nintendo/dp/B06XD6QRPD

  3. I was actually trying to be strategic and put off doing the quiz and poll this time to throw the others off by thinking they had a comfortable lead. However, I ended up forgetting to do them and it was not until the day after the cut-off date that I realized I was already too late. I'll make sure not to delay this time though. At least I'll get to finally play Affordable Space Adventures.

    1. Hm, forgetting to do stuff is a nice strategy...

...Maybe I should do more reminders of these things? I mean, how many reminders do y'all need? You get this newsletter and next month's newsletter... sometimes more. *shrug*

Okay, well, I guess I know what to e-mail to who.
