KoopaTV Advocates for Hong Kong Independence (香港独立)

You are supposed to pronounce the Chinese letters as “Xiānggǎng dúlì.” It means Hong Kong Independence. How did “Xiānggǎng” get romanticised to Hong Kong, I dunno, but what I do know is that the Chinese Communist Party is severely mistreating the Hong Kong region and the millions of people that live and work there. The only way to resolve this is for Hong Kong to have independence.

To be clear, when we covered the Hong Kong Liberation controversy back in October with Activision-Blizzard and Hearthstone (and the broader reasons why Hong Kongers wanted liberation and what that meant), there were tons of protests over an awful extradition treaty that'd violate Hong Kong's autonomy. It wasn't for people wanting Hong Kong to actually be an independent country.

Then the Chinese Communist Party Virus was inflicted upon the world, including Hong Kong, and the protests were stopped. During that time, China was plotting measures that would further deteriorate Hong Kong's autonomy, to the point that now United States policy is to no longer consider Hong Kong and China separate entities. Those measures include banning treason and subversion, which is code-word for “you will be arrested for protesting.” And many examples of arrests and police brutality have taken place over there.

The Chinese Communist Party cannot be trusted to uphold their word of the “one country, two systems” principle until mid-century... not that the people of Hong Kong should be doomed to count down the years until their cultural obliteration. The only way for Hong Kong to regain its autonomy is for complete independence, which KoopaTV supports, in-line with our general support for self-determination.

This Independence Day, consider spreading your support to the people of Hong Kong, even if not everyone in Hong Kong realises (yet) this is their only option.

I want to point out that this extends past Hong Kong. This covers the whole Earth, because it's just one example of many of the Chinese Communist Party's extending influence.

Take a look at what's going on in the gaming industry. Companies that do the Chinese Communist Party's problematic bidding (such as enforcing censorship and spying on users), such as Tencent, are becoming one of the biggest players in it. They've been buying up pieces and parts of companies and big games, from Epic Games to PlatinumGames to Riot to Activision Blizzard. They've teamed up with Nintendo to distribute the Switch in China. They've more recently teamed up with The Pokémon Company to bring about Pokémon UNITE.

Pokémon UNITE has gotten a ton of controversy among people who know what's going on. Just check out the like:dislike ratios.

And this is after tens of thousands of dislikes were somehow removed.
The dislikes aren't because “oh, this isn't what I wanted.” It's because it's Tencent.
You don't see the Pokémon Smile video treated this way.

Note that “Kung Olaf”, an account that was just made with no content, is engaging in whataboutism to downplay the horrors of the Chinese Communist Party.

They're even coming to KoopaTV. I mean, we published yesterday's guest article not because we agree with it, but to put on display what's happening and what the Chinese Communist Party is trying to do. They have operatives all over the Internet trying to spread propaganda and gaslighting people. I mean, that whole guest article was just saying Tencent's games are well-designed and it's such a great and amazing thing you should look forward to now that Tencent has their hands on Pokémon and its fanbase. Oh, and because the stock market (read: large corporations that have no allegiance to freedom and values) likes it, it's good for everyone. It's all at such odds compared to the actual reality of what's going on. (Reminder that the League of Legends fanbase is one of the worst of all time.)

We need to limit the power that the Chinese Communist Party has. They're ending people's freedoms, be it the Uygher Muslim concentration camps in China, their democracy-killing power in Hong Kong, their complicit behaviour in putting the rest of Earth in virus lockdowns, and now they're insidiously coming after your entertainment. Even KoopaTV!
