President Donald John Trump Finally Takes Daylight Savings Time Position

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - This has happened only because we at KoopaTV first asked him! Forever ago.

In the footer of yesterday's annual Daylight Savings Time article (which is a must-read if you want to know how Mario, of Mario's Time Machine fame, gave the dreaded inspiration of Daylight Savings Time to Founding Father Benjamin Franklin), I implied there wouldn't be an article today. But something magical happened today that I had to write about it.

President Donald John Trump, after not responding for two years (and not responding to the follow-up, either), has finally replied to KoopaTV, and the world, on his Daylight Savings Time position!

“Making Daylight Saving Time permanent is O.K. with me!” he tweeted on Monday morning. Now, we asked him in our letters to demonstrate leadership in Congress to get Daylight Savings Time abolished, as opposed to made permanent, but that's at least still better than the status quo of changing the clocks twice a year and engaging in biannual time travel.

That said, his tweet is just a tweet. There's no policy push behind it yet. President Donald John Trump writes inane tweets all the time and most go absolutely nowhere.

Fortunately, there is hope coming from more reliable places. Meet Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang. He has a lot of policy proposals that I'm sure we'll talk about later this year when the debates happen. Among them is also a call to make Daylight Savings Time permanent, for the express purpose of preventing more time-switching:

In just five months, we've made a total reversal of the bipartisan (plus independents) policy of working together to keep the government in control of time. But let's be careful. Time-abusers and liars like Elizabeth Warren, who was just running for Senate in that five-months-ago time, are now also running for President. We need to keep people like her out of power. (Damn it, Massachusetts.)

By the way, there's another life lesson here: persistence pays off. President Barack Hussein Obama replied to us in two months. It took President Donald John Trump two years and two letters, and, in typical Trumpian fashion, he deprived us of an exclusive scoop by taking to Twitter and bypassing a media outlet. But we still got our answer. No... we got your answer. This is a victory for the entire American people!

In other “KoopaTV is validated by third-party sources” news, check out this Nintendo News article distributed to Nintendo Switch owners:

Nintendo Switch News Time Travel Games Daylight Saving Time
This was the point I made in yesterday's article about Mario's Time Machine and Daylight Savings Time!
(Seriously, go read it if you haven't already.)

“During daylight saving time, we become time travelers, heading either an hour into the past or an hour into the future. To commemorate our oh-so-brief profession, take a journey with these games!”

Let's not make this out to be a good thing, Nintendo. Let's end this by next year. Or the year after that when there's a new presidential term.

Ludwig doesn't know if he's going to publish six articles this week on KoopaTV or what, because the previous article's footer obviously didn't anticipate that tweet happening. KoopaTV has too much integrity to ignore a response back to an interview request, even if it's over two years later!

A year later, and President Donald John Trump hasn't done anything. Andrew Yang dropped out, too.
The President isn't going to change DST. That's up to the Congress.

  1. Liberal or conservative, democrat or republican, if there is anything that we can all agree on, its our detest of changing the time. It's been long enough for this outdated practice to be abolished. If President Trump were to make DST permanent, then I would say that 99.9% of Americans would support his decision.

    1. I'm not positive, but if I had to guess, I think that Mario did not just travel to the past but also to the future. He wanted to make sure that DST is never abolished simply because he wants people to suffer.

    2. If he wanted to lobby the politicians, wouldn't he go to the present?
