KoopaTV's October 2016 Review Newsletter

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Very, very important news about the future of KoopaTV.

Everything is so stressful lately. Hopefully, you all appreciate the work that goes into KoopaTV, so you'll allow us to reflect on all we did in the past month. But there's some talk of the future to address as well.

Let's get the most important bit of news out of the way. This might've been vaguely alluded to, but it's about time we make it official:

If Hillary Clinton Becomes President, KoopaTV Ends

This isn't us making an October-fools/Halloween joke, like we did in 2014.

We've been discussing this internally for months, though at a time when Hillary's odds of winning the presidential election were... lower than they are right now. We decided that, due to Hillary's positions on freedom of speech, it would be unwise for us to continue KoopaTV. If anyone else is president, we'll keep going. And we'd love to.

But really, for our own good and safety, it's best to just allow ourselves to be silenced. We won't shut down the domain or anything (Ludwig will keep paying $12 to renew the domain name...forever?) and all of KoopaTV's excellence will be archived and backed up, because it's a piece of Internet history. But we'll definitely need to stay out of the public eye, lest Hillary launch a nuclear warhead in our direction for criticising her. And that's not just paranoia — she already has had choice things to say about bloggers, and she's been connected with many “unfortunate accidents.”

Now, with that out of the way, let's actually review October 2016, shall we?

We had awesome content in October, believe me. Everything was worth reading last month, but here are the top five recommended articles, courtesy of myself in chronological order:

  1. Fiction Can Influence so Please Stop Overshadowing Girafarig (Also Pictures From My Vacation)!
  2. No Nostalgia For Fifth Generation 3D Polygons
  3. The Grand Reveal of the Nintendo Switch (Formerly NX)
  4. The Power of Science is Staggering! Incredible! Amazing!
  5. Vortexica's "The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses - Master Quest" Experience

Okay, yes, those last four are all within a 7-day time-span. Do you have a problem with that? I could've picked other articles, but I just really liked that week. It's all important stuff.

The Launch of KoopaTV Adventures

KoopaTV Adventures is a big initiative done by Vortexica and his, um, company, Tea Storm Studios. It's an all-new photo comic video series, featuring the lovable cast of characters known as the KoopaTV Staff! It's low on budget and high on awesome! (Like the rest of this site.)

You can and should watch Episode 1 of KoopaTV Adventures here. It's amazing. Filled with attention-to-detail and love from us to you, about us.

KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program Round 10 Results!

Well... you wanna know the results of Round 10 of the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program, don't you? Of who wins an eShop gift code for $10? Sure, why not tell you? It's all public information anyway.

  1. ShinyGirafarig — 102 points
  2. Kody B. — 90 points
  3. Samantha Lienhard — 65 points
  4. Charssie God — 14 points
  5. Ray — 12 points
  6. Nandin Lopez — 10 points
So, congrats to ShinyGirafarig, who pulled a clutch victory over Kody B. by submitting a guest post to KoopaTV pretty close to the end of the round. It's a point-plentiful method of amassing a lot of points in a short period of time, but we have more to announce concerning points and...

Announcing KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program Round 11!

In what might be our last round of the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program ever, we want to go all-out. After all, Round 11 will go from November 1 to December 30, so it includes the precious holiday season! That means... bigger rewards!

We'll have FIRST PLACE'S PRIZE be... $20 in Amazon gift card credit! SECOND PLACE'S PRIZE is... $10 in Amazon gift card credit! While THIRD PLACE'S PRIZE is... $10 in Nintendo eShop credit!

But that's not even all. Exclusively for Round 11, we'll be introducing an element of RANDOMNESS, by throwing in another $10 Nintendo eShop code to a lucky winner decided by chance! Every point you earn will count as one ticket in a giant raffle. So, if you take the scores above for Round 10, Kody B. would have 90 tickets, and Nandin would have 10, so Kody B. would have 9 times more likely the chance of winning a prize. But there's still that chance Nandin would win, and “that chance” is greater than “no chance” that would otherwise occur in what is otherwise an entirely skill-based system.

We're also buffing the TV Tropes editing points from 1 to... 2! That's double! AND, we're buffing the referral point from 1 to... 4! That's QUADRUPLE. And we're doing away with the “and +4 if they're active for five days straight.” points that's only been earned once before, because that's actually a lot to expect out of someone who just got shared a link to some crazy blog they've never heard of before.

I don't THINK that's point inflation. It's just... making activities we want you to do have more of an incentive. Commenting is still bread & butter.

KoopaTV Feedback Form and Quiz Part VII

That said, it's fun to have fun point-inflation-y ways to express your knowledge and love for KoopaTV. That's why we have the series of KoopaTV Feedback Forms and Quizzes, which are now entering their seventh iteration. Go check them out.

If you have feedback to give about the ground-breaking announcement in this article, provide it in KoopaTV's Feedback Form Part VII, which has a question just for that. Meanwhile, you can help KoopaTV get over its perpetual marketing failures by sharing it to people, and you can even benefit from the buffed Loyalty Rewards Program points for doing that!

You should read last month's September review newsletter. It's a lot shorter.
Next month's newsletter for November is here, featuring KoopaTV not closing.
KoopaTV's October 2015 Review Newsletter is here.
KoopaTV's October 2017 Review Newsletter is here. It has even juicier rewards for its holidays round.
Just some clarification on that KoopaTV ending bit. Like, it's not going to end November 9, but at inauguration.
KoopaTV will not be ending in January, because Donald Trump WON.
January 20 came and went. KoopaTV is still here.

  1. I will admit I have been using a strategy for the past few rounds. However the unique maternity shirt I ordered for did help with delaying me until almost the last moment. I had to wait for the commissioner to be finished for the image and then to find a good create a shirt site with the maternity shirt type I preferred the most to use and then to deliver. I also had to deal with a throat infection for the last few days of October too.

Why I am giving away my strategy? I want others to have a chance to get first place and I want a bit of a challenge if this is going to be the last round.

    1. I definitely appreciate that you're approaching this strategically, especially 'cause we designed the system to basically be “taken advantage of”. There is definitely enough space for different strategies and such, and decisions readers can make for wot they think is the optimal amount of effort to reward.

      So yeah, competition is great.

  2. It's good to know you won't disappear or have an unfortunate accident now.
