KoopaTV's November 2020 Review Newsletter

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Yeah... a big event happened, but...

I opened up last month's newsletter by saying that October set up for November. Now that November is over and I'm supposed to be reviewing how the month went... I kind of don't want to talk about it. It didn't go well.

That said, I think I ranted about that very minimally on the website. November 2020 also went by very fast, because it feels like a very short amount of time has actually passed since the beginning of November. Suddenly, it's the first day of December. I hate December, by the way. Loathe it. But in terms of KoopaTV stuff, November was good. I'll provide evidence of that. Here:

KoopaTV's Top Five Recommended Experiences of November 2020

KoopaTV's articles are awesome and you should read all of them. Here are the top five from November 2020, in chronological order, as decided by... me!
  1. Are the "Hiding Your True Self" Spirits Wearing Masks Properly? — This is a very creative, entertaining, and informative art piece looking at all of the mask-wearers from the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Spirit Event "Hiding Your True Self" and seeing if they're complying with the CDC's mask-wearing guidelines.
  2. Republicans Need to Get Rid of MIKE LINDELL — I've heard many more MyPillow commercials since I wrote this article, and hearing Mike Lindell talk makes me think about this article. You should think about it too, because this guy is horrible and needs to be excommunicated from Republican politics. The article provides the reasoning why. This article was also the extent of election-related ranting.
  3. LEGO Super Mario Announces: Master Your Adventure Maker Set... with LARRY KOOPA?!!? — KoopaTV is covering the newest set announcements for LEGO Super Mario, and the author's brother, Larry, is a prominent component of it. ...But it doesn't end well for Larry.
  4. Nintendo “News” Outlets Proclaim Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a 3-Million Seller Because Random ResetEra Guy Said So — I might've had a trend of writing verbose titles in November. Anyway, here is yet another example of why the gaming media is awful. By the way, I edited Fire Emblem: Three Houses's Wikipedia page so it no longer includes reference to it selling over three million copies, because Wikipedia is about reliable sources, and anyone using a random ResetEra post as a source is not reliable.
  5. Is Using Game Elements Provided to Every Player Problematic “Cultural Appropriation”? — I not only provide my take on people freely using hair styles in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but I also interviewed and cited multiple people to make sure my opinion was informed.

Best Three Comments and One Worst Comment of November 2020

What went on with the readers this month? I went through all of KoopaTV's reader comments through November 2020, and picked out the best three (listed chronologically) and worst one to showcase in the newsletter. The top comments get a bonus modifier in the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program (see later in the newsletter), while the worst... just gets to be shamed.

  1. “Thankfully there is an option to have oxen drawn carts instead. My best friend was bitten by a horse and was hospitalized. I guess there is something to your claim that bovines are better friends.” — ShinyGirafarig
  2. “These Lego sets have so much potential but look kinda boring. The only good one is the Lego NES/TV and that's like 300 dollars! I would much prefer a Peaches castle Lego set, akin to that of the Disney and Hogwarts castles. They could have paintings in all the rooms, and you could connect separate sets like bob-bomb battlefield. Sigh, but instead we have this.” — Captain Stitch
  3. “My anonymous sources have told me that Phoenix Wright is going to be the next Super Smash Bros. DLC character with Miles Edgeworth as his alt. According to these trustworthy informants, this message was hidden in between the lines of a Capcom insider report that was recently leaked by the cyber attack. They also tell me that the announcement will take place at The Game Awards on December 10th. You heard it here first.” — Kody B.

You gotta be careful of those dangerous horses. One day, it's your best friend. The next, it could be YOU. And in the case of Spectrier, your whole community.

There is a lot of potential and creativity with having a LEGO world that's trying to replicate the painting warps off the Princess Peach's Castle hub area from Super Mario 64. The only challenge would be making it so each of the different worlds aren't overlapping one another in the physical space. ...And that could be a rather big only challenge. Still, very interesting to think about.

Proving Kody B. correct or incorrect in real-time will be a reason to actually sit through The Game Awards on December 10. Believe me, I don't want to do that because I loathe The Game Awards, but those anonymous sources seem potentially credible...! More credible than The Game Awards as an institution, anyway.

  1. “um can i have a 3ds eshop code i have never had one in my life” — Anonymous
I've already wrote in past newsletters on why these comments are stupid, and you probably don't need me to explain it to you. First of all, the guy has no contact information. I couldn't give him a code even if I wanted to (and I do not want to). He didn't come back and reply to the comment, and I replied to him within an hour. (There is an option you can select, when you're making a comment, to be notified when there is a reply. You should always check that box, especially when you're asking for something.)

Second of all, having an eShop code isn't some life-changing experience that you simply must have access to at least once in your life before you die. Feel free to list some actual experiences in the comments section of this newsletter, since I can't really think of any due to probably not experiencing them for myself.

Corrections Corner; November 2020

ShinyGirafarig pointed out that I accidentally referred to Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire as Generation 2 instead of Generation 3; but she only gets one point for it in the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program because the sentence itself gave anyone reading it a self-aware red flag that something would probably be wrong with the sentence. It was very complicated and a parallel construction pain. (Though that'd be all the more reason why I should've proofread it more carefully.)

KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program Round 35 Mid-Round Leaderboard

The current KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program round, Round 35, is the biggest one of 2020. The top THREE scorers will get prizes ($25 for first in Amazon money, $20 for second in Nintendo money, and $10 for third in Amazon money), and one lucky person (while the placings are entirely skill-based, this is the one time a year a random number generator will be involved in determining a prize) will get a $10 Nintendo eShop code. It could've been that person who wanted the life-changing code up above, but unfortunately, they aren't eligible because they posted without a name, so I can't track them in the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program.

Here are the current standings, as of publishing:
  1. Captain Stitch — 41 points
  2. ShinyGirafarig — 35 points
  3. Samantha Lienhard — 15 points
  4. Kody B. — 13 points
  5. sam — 10 points
  6. Lheticus Videre — 9 points
  7. Master Knight DH — 1 point

Shout-out to Captain Stitch, since this is the first time he's participating with the site, and boom, already doing great. But you, reader, can do even better than all of these people, even if you start now. Check out the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program page for all of the ways you can accumulate points and blow past the leads presented. It's mathematically pretty easy to do so. It's up to you, if you have the willpower.

KoopaTV VS. China; November 2020

You know what's crazy? KoopaTV still isn't banned from China. I've had more Americans call for KoopaTV to be gone because of our anti-Chinese Communist Party stance than actual Chinese communists. What's going on? Them not banning KoopaTV yet is straining my credibility in claiming they're censorious authoritarians. (Though they're certainly authoritarians of other adjective types.)

You should share KoopaTV to other people and spread the cause around! Share KoopaTV to friends, enemies, random people, people in China, whomever. You see someone, let them know about KoopaTV. ...With over 2,000 published articles, chances are, there's something great on this site that's relevant to whatever topic you may find yourself in. (In which case, you may wish to share it with yourself, first.) Also, speaking of KoopaTV notifications, you can have an email subscription to KoopaTV by submitting your e-mail address here. It's very nice.

  1. Gah, isn't it just my luck that I get into a mental headplace where I'm not as bothered about this site right when you finally offer Amazon credit again, and top 3 place prizes, even! Well, NaNoWriMo is over so I ought to be able to do some serious making up for lost time now.

  2. Alright! I'm very glad to be here, and can't wait to see what will happen in December. One question, if I end up keeping first place, is it okay if i take the Nintendo Eshop cards instead? E shop cards are life changing experiences after all. I tried some Sudoku the other day, good stuff!
