Pokémon Generations Animated Series: Starting This Week!

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Beautiful! BEAUTIFUL. Can't wait.

It turns out there is Pokémon-related news out there besides new Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon drip-feeding. ...Oh, and besides that mobile trash I won't even name, the one that is rapidly losing its player base. Presumably because a majority of them got killed off by now for not taking Herman Cain's advice.

So, yeah, check out what The Pokémon Company International is now up to. It's called Pokémon Generations. It's not a new game or anything, but a new web series that will have 18 episodes covering the best moments from Kanto to Kalos. The first episode is this Friday, September 16, and the last one is Friday, December 23. (Oh! Christmas is a Sunday this year!)

These will be 3–5 minutes each, which should result in about an hour of animated content, overall. That's a much larger game-promoting effort than the likes, of, say, Shigeru Miyamoto's Star Fox Zero — The Battle Begins.

First of all, that music is, hopefully and probably, not representative of whatever the music will be in these animated shorts. This music came from a chiptune artist that The Pokémon Company got off of bandcamp. The real music will presumably be remixes of Pokémon game music.

Anyway, Pokémon Generations promises these new perspectives on over twenty years of adventures in a beautiful animated forme. Why? Well, maybe it's to get the Genwunners to realise there are other generations of Pokémon out there, and they're really cool and interesting, too. So you have the Blastoise in the thumbnail as a lure, and then you reveal...

That said, are these eyes really new? I mean, Looker's eyes have been used for a long, long time. Not only that, but you see Blue and Red fighting it out in a gym. They're not new. In fact, The Pokémon Company is now re-releasing the Pokémon Origins episodes on their YouTube channel and website, which are all about Red and his journey in Kanto. So... that's territory that's been retread over and over.

Regigigigigigigigas is doing something at the Snowpoint Temple, but there's a Pikachu there.
But we already know all about Pikachu at Snowpoint Temple with Regigigas in the anime episode, Pillars of Friendship.

But there will also be new content. For example, we've only seen Cheryl and her Chansey inside the actual Eterna Forest in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. During the course of those adventures, she never stopped by the Old Chateau to be haunted by a Haunter! Why would she come in there when all the gym leader Gardenia has been doing to anyone near Eterna City is warn people about how scary Ghost types are?

Alternatively, what if the Ghost types left the Old Chateau and are roaming Eterna Forest proper? What could have driven them out?

Was Rotom taking too many photographs of its fellow Ghosts in the Old Chateau that they ditched it?

Don't take these comments as concerns or anything. I'm sure it'll be great. I just don't think it'll all be amazing unique world-building side-stories. It doesn't really have to be, either, as much as I like those. It can be whatever it wants, because Pokémon Generations is totally optional, anyway.

...I don't think KoopaTV will have an article for every episode, though. You don't have to worry about that. I think.

Ludwig wonders if he's using too many trailers and YouTube videos as the sources for articles as of late. There just happens to be SO MUCH going on at this point of the year, and KoopaTV wants to talk about everything! It's also no coincidence that all of the screenshots in this article are of (likely) Sinnoh moments, because that's Ludwig's favourite region and generation.

Rotom originally came from the Old Chateau, so that would be where it's resurging from.
The Pokémon Diamond and Pearl anime series is apparently Ludwig's favourite anime.
Pokémon Generations had more side-stories than he expected, which Ludwig liked. This is unlike Pokémon Evolutions in 2021.

    2. ...Erm...
      I mean, Episode 1 wasn't a real episode.
Episode 2 was great, though I dunno if that means the whole series can already be called “fukkin lit fam holy shit”.
