There are so many ways you can get into the adventure-genre (Interestingly, they're the only Capcom games under the genre of "Other" on Capcom's website) Ace Attorney series now. Let's review them, for Capcom's sake. And thank you, October Nintendo Direct, for providing a Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies demo in the Nintendo eShop.
- Get all the games off Amazon! Product listings conveniently at the bottom of this article. Price: $19 + $15 + $16.65 + $19 + $16.44 = $86 (free shipping, too!)
- This deal that ships all five games to you for $76.32. Worldwide shipping! (It costs money, though.)
- Buy the WiiWare versions of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice For All, and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations. Those three will cost 3,100 Wii points in total ($31) (the 100 from buying the bonus case in Ace Attorney. It's one of the best cases in the series). You can play them on your Wii and also your Wii U, and with the new Wii U update, you can play them from your GamePad off-screen!
- Buy the iOS HD Trilogy. ...Don't do this. Apparently it is under maintenance. You can buy all three for $17.
Alternatively, if you just don't care about the series' storyline for whatever reason (and you're missing the point of the series then), you can try out the eShop demo (well, try it out anyway) and buy Dual Destinies come October 24. Capcom says that it's a good starting point, despite references to the earlier games being all over the place. But it does give a good explanation on the series mechanics. It stands on its own.
Speaking of the demo, it really is great and the announcement of it makes up for the rest of the Nintendo Direct. I've played through it several times to get all of the dialogue. (You have to try to get a game over, but I did so in the two places you can get it for the unique dialogue. Probably worth it.)
Do you know why I'm so passionate about this series? Because it's quality. In fact, I declare the following:
I won't be getting Pokémon X until after I beat Dual Destinies. Unless, of course, I win it.
There really needs to be a good place to talk about Ace Attorney on Miiverse. Ludwig will talk about Ace Attorney anywhere though, so Follow him at NNID PrinceOfKoopas.
There may be yet another way to play the trilogy! Click here! For an article about it.
