Jareditton presents: Let's Play Trayvon Tyson's Punch-Out!!

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - A champion Let's Play for a champion game.

KoopaTV has been asking for a while, and we've finally gotten it: The PC Game of the Year 2013 has a Let's Play on YouTube! It's Trayvon Tyson's Punch-Out!!, playable here right on KoopaTV in your browser for free

Presented by a YouTuber named Jareditton. Maybe subscribe to him, because based off what KoopaTV watched of his channel (only the Trayvon Tyson's Punch-Out!! stuff), the kid actually is a master artist. On our level. The best way to see why is to watch his Let's Play of Trayvon Tyson's Punch-Out!!, embedded across three videos below!

They're hilarious not only because of the source material, but because of him. See below the page-break for the videos! (Putting a page-break here so cleaner loading of the main page!)

200cc — Death of F-Zero?

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Captain Falcon usurped by a punk plumber.

An unfortunate non-Kamek (he's really alive!) casualty from the April 1 Direct (see our live-reactions here) is the F-Zero series, which continues to be regularly mocked and denied a sequel by Mario Kart 8 and that plumber's producer, Shigeru Miyamoto.

First Miyamoto said that there was no direction to take a new F-Zero game, to the concern of fans. Then Miyamoto stated that the only way a new F-Zero would be made is if Nintendo would make a new controller for it, because a normal controller apparently isn't good enough for the series, despite what F-Zero GX players think. And, hey, Nintendo is probably never going to do that, so whatever. The only one of those in the near-future seems to be a smartphone, so "A-Hundred" for a mobile device not near you might still be in the works.

Otherwise, Nintendo hasn't totally forgotten about Captain Falcon and friends. Look!

Captain Falcon Mii amiibo Mario Kart 8 compatibility
To Miyamoto, Miis are a satisfactory replacement for characters.

This naturally segues into what was recently announced as coming to Mario Kart 8 in two weeks whether you want it or not, as tends to be the pattern for its DLC. Take that!

Cure the Virtual Console of YIDS

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Embarrassing and dangerous.

KoopaTV has to worry about getting Ebola whenever we visit our office, and now Wii U users will have to worry about getting YIDS.

This virus-like videogame, scientifically known as Yoshi's Island DS, has already infected other games such as Yoshi's New Island and Mario Super Sluggers. And now it threatens the entire Wii U Virtual Console library since it is the flagship title for the Virtual Console's DS game service, with Super Mario 64 representing the Nintendo 64 one.

Yoshi's Island DS Super Mario 64 Virtual Console Nintendo announcement
YIDS is not worth $10.

It's not only the flagship title, but it's the only title, though that will change in a few hours on April 9 with Yoshi Touch & Go and WarioWare Touched!. That means if you want to see the DS Virtual Console for yourself before then, you'll have to get YIDS.

For more information on why YIDS is a bad thing to catch, click this article which is misinformed about everything besides YIDS

I Stand With Rand

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - The first candidate endorsement from KoopaTV.

America has a problem. The prescription? Rand Paul.

Dr. Rand Paul, with his experience as an eye doctor, has a vision for America.

(Also, since I'm apparently blind, having an eye doctor is pretty nice. Dude even has an eye chart.

Rand Paul announces his run for president in 2016
"Thanks for the endorsement, Ludwig!"

KoopaTV has very different political opinions among our staffers, but it hasn't been a secret that my preference has been for Rand Paul. The other staffers can endorse whoever they want, but my endorsement is for Rand.

You can watch his announcement speech here:

KoopaTV and Rand Paul have a lot in common. We both support freedom and we're both contrarian to the folks in power. KoopaTV ain't the establishment, and Rand certainly ain't either. Along with that, Rand ain't a censorship kind of guy. He's not afraid to make enemies (he's attracting attacks from both Democrats and Republicans) because he goes out to tell the Truth. And, hey, I wager he has some Levity in him too.

I suppose it doesn't matter what I say... until August 6, 2015. That's the first debate!

Rand Paul and Ted Cruz are the only candidates in either party to formally and officially be presidential candidates. Of those two, Rand is definitely the best guy. He doesn't look like a crook, so that's a big plus!

Ludwig Von Koopa Rand Paul for President
"Okay... DR RAND PAUL FOR PRESIDENT... uh... Defeat... the...dangit I can't see."
One caveat:
“The message of liberty, opportunity and justice is for all Americans, whether you wear a suit, a uniform or overalls,”
If those are blue overalls against a red shirt worn by a guy with a red cap and mustache, then "justice" for those people should involve locking them up and trying them for genocide.

KoopaTV will keep you somewhat up-to-date on political going-ons, but for the dedicated political version of KoopaTV, see our sister station at CainTV.

By comparison, KoopaTV staff member Rawk stands with all manner of dudes named Phil.
The first debate is actually August 6. Sorry.
Even though Ludwig personally supports Rand, could KoopaTV as a whole be supporting another guy? A certain loudmouth?
Rand Paul provided some life lessons in a so-called “Rand Direct”.
While KoopaTV declined to endorse a candidate for the primaries, KoopaTV endorsed Donald Trump for the general election.

There is Post-Mewtwo DLC. Ludwig apologises.

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - I should stop proclaiming things.

Back in the day, Nintendo released the Super Smash Bros. For Wii U 50-Fact Extravaganza. In the live-reaction during that event, after Mewtwo DLC was revealed for the first time, I stated,

"Or [people getting their hopes up for more characters] could face reality.
And accept that Mewtwo is [the only DLC character].
I'll write a formal apology article if I'm wrong."
Frustratingly enough, as revealed on the April 1 2015 Direct, Mewtwo is NOT the only DLC character. EVEN THOUGH THIS DIRECTLY CONTRADICTS WHAT SAKURAI SAID EARLIER ABOUT NOT WORKING ON PAID DLC!

Yes, there is Lucas returning from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. And there is also this "Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot" that KoopaTV is going to talk much more about later in the week or coming weeks.

True to my word, I formally apologise. You do not have to face reality. You can now watch any Nintendo-made event and anticipate a new Super Smash Bros. 4 DLC announcement. ...And you can now be sure that Masahiro Sakurai is not getting a day off anytime soon. Remember: He hasn't gotten that vacation for his busted limbs!

Announcing KoopaTV BLK™

By BLACK NINJA KOOPA - It's about ethnics in video-game journalism.

As most of you probably don't know, since I'm guessing the main audience for this place are people too young to know better (plus it's something I don't really like to talk about these days), yours truly was a member of Koopa Keep -- you know, that mid-2000's NSider gig ran by the same dudes who frequent these parts. ...Or the ones who are still alive, anyway, namely Ludwig Von Koopa (the boss), Kamek Koopa (the adviser), and that "RawkHawk2010" guy, who I can barely remember but have always felt something of a...dreamy spiritual connection with. (Huh.) Anyway, it appears all of the other Koopa Keepians, even my dear brother Red Ninja Koopa, eventually all had various existential crises and are now six feet under the cold, cold ground. (Either that, or they've become integrated into various communities that KoopaTV has been eternally blacklisted from, but hey, tomayto tomahto.)

So why am I here, after give-or-take ten years? Well the deal is that KoopaTV, for quite some time now, has been facing issues in the area of cultural diversity and I've been summoned to offer my expertise. In fact, that's precisely what I've been up to all this time -- traveling the lands, having various important talks with various important folk, all in an effort to make this existence more palatable for the most under-appreciated, most under-privileged, and most under-represented class of dude there is. I, of course, am referring to black folk.

KoopaTV's March 2015 Review Newsletter

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Plus an update and an answer.

We will go back to regularly scheduled videogame commentary next week. With that Nintendo Direct yesterday, well, damn, there is a ton to discuss there.

Speaking of yesterday, while we legitimately did make an account on Myspace, we are not going to legitimately update it. It was made for the sole purpose of yesterday's article.

So let's look at March 2015. It was the first month on KoopaTV where the KoopaTV Loyalty Rewards Program was implemented! However, this current Round goes to the end of May, so there is still plenty of time to get into the action! The standings as of publishing (which you can check in real-time at any time here) are:
  1. Martino X — 29 points
  2. Samantha Lienhard — 11 points
  3. Ringabel Brave — 10 points
  4. Anthony Shaffer — 7 points
  5. And everyone else who is below that.
Only the top 3 actually get any prizes! You may see the... gap between #1 and #2 and be scared, but Mr. X ain't playing the Loyalty Rewards Program optimally. If you were to just begin now and play optimally, you could actually overtake him within two weeks time! Then you can win Club Nintendo rewards and eShop stuff. I have a $10 eShop card on my desk just waiting for Round 3 in July!

Speaking of Club Nintendo, we created a scavenger hunt at the end of March to give out the Fire Emblem: Awakening PIN redemption code. (As of publishing, I still have not played the game.)

SO! ANSWER!

KoopaTV's Live Reactions to Splatoon Treehouse and Nintendo Direct April 1 2015 Processing

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Splatoon but... we have a lot to process on what we just watched.

Nintendo is not done showing us new content. This live reaction log continues right where the previous one left off that was the April 1, 2015 Nintendo Direct.

I'm Nintendork 13 13, RawkHawk2010 is himself, Vortexica is that breezin dude, and... we're worried about Kamek's livelihood.

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - That was supposed to be Fire Emblem?

Been sometime, but Nintendo didn't lie. There really was a Nintendo Direct today!

Their interns are joking though.

I'm Nintendork 13 13, Rawk is himself, Vortexica is the other dude (breezin), and I don't know if Kamek even commented here but if he did he's Ultralink1000.

KoopaTV Conquers Myspace!

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - We're getting the conversations going with more and more social media.

Since we lost the social media accounts created when Noxial became our social media manager (since she, you know, became a terrorist or something), we have a void to fill. This is similar to how our Facebook got shutdown and we opened an Ello account and a tumblr to try to replace it. (Net result? ...We still miss Facebook.)

Well, screw that! We're looking at more of Facebook's competitors, so we are proud to formally announce that we have a Myspace account.

KoopaTV Myspace account
You can listen to Shell-Spangled Banner.

"Ludwig, what are you thinking?" Well, did you know that, according to Myspace, Myspace has 50 million users coming there every month? Imagine if we got a fraction of that coming to KoopaTV!

Myspace proves their doubters wrong, and so do we at KoopaTV. So we think it's a natural fit. Myspace nowadays is all about artists, and we at KoopaTV see our over 500 articles as art (our regular commentary included, not just our amazing Artistic Corner).

So, first thing that happened when we went to make an account?

Facebook Twitter advertisement when making Myspace account
You see the Facebook logo before you even know what Myspace's logo is.

Okay, that's weird. The whole point of making a Myspace is that it's not Facebook. They're supposed to be competitors!

Now, let's look at their Terms. Always a good idea when going somewhere. Myspace claims no ownership rights to any content posted there. Great! (Neither does Nintendo on Miiverse.) These terms are pretty adorable and they even explain some legalese to you in plain English, which is cute and something I haven't seen other Terms of Usages do. And then there is this:
"To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, as a reasonable estimation of such harm, you agree to pay Myspace Fifty Dollars ($50) for each actual or intended recipient of such unsolicited Message or other unauthorized commercial communication you send through the Myspace Services;"
That means if you advertise on Myspace or try to sell something (check out the KoopaTV Store!), you have to pay Myspace $50. Think that's stupid? Then don't sign the terms and don't use Myspace. But for us at KoopaTV, their terms provide ideas on how to monetise our lovely corner of the Internet.

So, check out the KoopaTV Myspace. You will probably regret it, but it's going to be joining our impressive line-up of social media accounts.

You know, with all these social media accounts to handle, we're gonna need a social media manager who isn't planning to join ISIS on our staff! If you think you fit the bill, apply here!

KoopaTV is going to make its Myspace its space. If you have a Myspace too, be sure to "connect" with KoopaTV! You can find a list of KoopaTV's social media accounts in our Contact Us page.
