By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Returning the collaboration favour. But where does the flavour come from?
I have been writing about Monster Hunter a lot on KoopaTV lately, mostly in the context of bullying Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet for being inspired by Monster Hunter mechanics. Like, really inspired. (And there may be more of that coming tomorrow.) However, it's now time to talk about Monster Hunter within the context of... Sonic the Hedgehog?
Perhaps you remember the Sonic the Hedgehog free DLC that came to Monster Hunter Rise around November 2021. That gave you and your Palico companion layered armor of Sonic the Hedgehog, and your Palamute got layered armor of Miles "Tails" Prower. It was a surprising collaboration after CAPCOM did five collaborations with its own properties. Now they got SEGA in there.
Well, the week after Sonic Frontiers releases on November 8, 2022, the collaboration will be paid back:
I hope you like Rathalos, because you can dress up Sonic the Hedgehog in two different Rathalos-inspired outfits. Also, you can have Sonic cook meat in Monster Hunter style with a BBQ Spit, which will apparently help keep Sonic fighting fit. (How this manifests wasn't explained.) It's not immediately obvious what meat source Sonic is using, since my understanding is that unlike the world of Monster Hunter where you...hunt monsters... and they are made of cookable meat, the enemies in Sonic Frontiers and the series in general are mechanical in nature. You know, not made of flesh. Now, I thought the story trailer for Sonic Frontiers was unclear and unhelpful, so perhaps I missed something about where the meat will come from. Maybe it's not resource-based and it'll just...spawn from nothing? But Sonic can get buffed from it anyway? Sounds overpowered.
Will Ludwig talk about Monster Hunter within the context of Monster Hunter anytime soon? Probably not. He likes when his hedgehogs are vegan, like Shaymin the Grass-type Pokémon is. As for Sonic Frontiers, he didn't know that Sonic dressing up in that was even a feature.

As far as I know, the Rathalos outfit is aesthetic and Sonic can't start flying around with it. |

So is this free too? Because i hate the idea of DLC already being made for a game that hasn't even been released yet. It's just sick.
